BE Income Letter processing times

Featured Replies

Has anyone recently applied for their final BE income letter? If so, what was the processing time? I usually do mine by mail and from posting away to getting it back it's usually 5-7 days. This time I am overseas so doing it all 'online'. They would have received the documents last Monday 19th and so far, no charge to the credit card which is the only way of checking progress. I think they may be a lot busier trying to get these turned around before their cut-off date.

Thanks!

NL

Hi, i emailed everything to them in the evening of Wednesday 7th November so they would have seen it on the Thursday 8th November. They charged my credit card last Friday 16th and the letter arrived yesterday 21st November. So its taking 10 working days, which I believe is what they aim for.

Cheers

Thanks for that. I'll check again early next week then, just to be sure.

OK, emailed the application and docs on 19th Nov and still no credit card charge after 10 days.

No response to email request on 29th Nov asking for any information.

Nothing from them caught in my spam filters.

So resubmitted the whole enchilada by snail mail yesterday.

When you sent your application to the BE did you get an acknowledgment email back?

I would say you could be in danger of being charged twice. As a matter of interest did you use correct email address. You should have got an automatic confirmation of receipt.

No auto acknowledgement of any emails sent which leads me to believe their spam filters may be working overtime.

Yes, correct email address used. FWIW, I just sent a test message from my alternative gmail address and there was no BE autoresponse to that one either.

At this juncture I am not too worried about a double-charge as that can be resolved after the fact.

Of course my EMS was out for delivery yesterday... on (yet another) national bloody holiday so maybe they'll get it today or Friday and before the next national bloody holiday!

I was in the same position as you. The first email application went to my sent box but I didn't receive an acknowledgement email like I did last year and I realised later in the day that my internet was also 'erratic'. So, assuming it 'got lost in the system somehow' I re-sent the application email and, this time, also added my own email address as a second recipient with the theory that if I received it in my in-box it at least went completely through the system. This time I received the email myself and then received an acknowledgement email from the BE about four minutes later.

Time will tell if they received the application twice and they attempt to take the money out twice.

For security, for all on-line payments, I've always loaded and used a (Mastercard verified) pre-paid credit card that has more than enough credit on it to pay the bill but, should the card details fall into the wrong hands via the internet, there is only a small balance I could lose. so the BE can't take the money twice anyway. I also used this card for last years income letter application so I know its acceptable.

Will post an update when I know more.

OK, my gmail test message did get through and the BE autoresponse was received so I guess my original US-based personal emails are still 'out there' and hopelessly lost.

In the meantime, EMS confirms mail application delivery at 10 AM yesterday so I will keep tabs on my credit card charging since I am headed out of the country again.
