Hello.

We spend six six months of each year in our home in Korat.

We are looking to get away for two months after the first of the year and are considering Pattaya. We would be looking to rent a condo (preferably) or perhaps a home with two or three bedrooms and are willing to spend up to 33 thousand or so baht a month. I am a swimmer (I prefer a 25 or 50 meter pool), bike rider (I usually ride 60 KMs three or four times a week, and a runner (10 to 12 KMs three to four times a week.

We would be driving from Korat to Pattaya and would need a safe place to park our car during our stay as well.

is this a reasonable plan and would anyone have recommendations as to location etc?

Thank you very much!

Lots of condo buildings fit that bill, though probably not so much in central Pattaya unless you like new buildings with tiny bedrooms. Look at Jomtien or Wong Amat/Naklua. Jomtien is far nicer to live in than Pattaya anyway, unless perhaps you are a dedicated barfly/gogo enthusiast.

Pattaya is not the safest place to ride a bicycle 60 km 3-4x/week.  I wanted to buy a bicycle and my girlfriend is deadly opposed for me doing so for safety concerns.  Forget about running with holes all over the streets and sidewalks.  I don't think I've ever even seen a jogger in Pattaya.

I can remember the sois south of Thepprasit from Suk to Thappraya (Jomtien) being fairly quiet for running and maybe cycling. But that was 4-5 years ago now. Over-all, Pattaya is just not walker/runner/cycler friendly by a long shot. Don't forget the dog population, which don't take kindly to anything moving at a fast pace.

OP has a car, out by silver lake is perfect for bike riding / jogging, quiet and nice scenery.

I'd be surprised if he'd be running in central pattaya??!?!?@! Also options to run the length of Jomtien beach now it's been re-pathed, very quiet in the mornings.

Not all of Pattaya is a s*****e

Yes, I would have thought that Jomtien Beach Road, Pratumnak and/or the beach path between the Jomtien police box and Pattaya Park, would all be suitable for jogging and cycling. It's certainly nice for walking.

Pratumnak hills are perfect for him, there is a jogging track there , and plenty of nice condos in that area.

I run here weekly .

Thank you. That looks really nice. Would you have a specific location? Can one ride a road bicycle there? How far can one run/ride there?

Area from Silverlake, has nice cycle tracks. Compounds with houses like Baan Dusit (3-4 compounds or so) But a bit far from ptty. 15 min minimum.
