Thai woman made a fortune from compatriots looking for love with foreigners

Sanook reported that a Thai woman from Samut Sakhon had conned many other Thais out of money by running a Facebook dating site.

 

Nareumon, 31, was advertising dates with foreigners for Thai women.

 

Pattaya station chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch's men caught up with Nareumon in Krathum Baen west of Bangkok following a complaint by a 41 year old victim called just "A". 

 

Nareumon was operating a site on Facebook under the name of "Pornphrom Janthorn".

 

The initial membership fee was 300 baht but "A" said that over time she was persuaded to part with 200,000 baht in fees before contact ceased. 

 

A warrant led to the arrest of the suspect. 

 

Pol Col Apichai said that there were likely many other victims of the fraud and he appealed to people to come forward to his men with their complaints.
