Construction in my condo
Hello all, just seeking some advice as to what to do with a situation i have in my shiny new condo, that i rent - 12 month tennancy and i am 4 months through it. Brand new condo, built a few years ago. Top company behind it, stayed with this company who built it many times, outstanding reputation, and the concierge team are spot on with any problems usually. The problem is, we have essentially moved into a construction zone, unbeknown to us. Now the condo is a few years old, we were presented with rooms already done up, but it appears the vast majority of the condo had rooms that were empty shells. As such we are being bombarded with construction noises that are soul destroying. Now the concierge management team do help when they can, ie construction work can only be done between 9am - 5pm, they will get the builders to turn down the drill but then i am just ending up with hours of hammering, they do send the odd later stating there will be construction (but then you get random construction starting in other rooms they did not notify you about). The drilling noise though beginning at 9am is just so bad that it is soul destroying. We are also noticing increasing volumes of dust coming into room from the surrounding construction. It's so loud, that even with a tv on you can just hear it. I do work irregular hours, so am often only getting into bed at around 7am. A few times i have contemplated getting up and going to a hotel, which is outrageous, when you considering i am paying upwards of nearly 75,000 Baht a month for this condo. Essentially the company and agents have shown me a condo where by rooms are empty, and it is not fully done up, or they are allowing owners to do modification on mass. What are my rites here? I cannot go on. It midday here, and i have a drill running above me that is destroying me. What would you do here? -

Thought this was an excellent read - what a life Heimo Korth (main subject) has led! Thailand Sets Sights on Nuclear Power Integration by 2037
Nuclear of some sort is essential for reliable base load power, whether as small modular reactors or more conventional plants. Even if it’s more expensive, I’d happily pay more for reliable power. The way we’re going with renewables, is that the wealthy will be OK, as they’ll be able to afford to install a large array of lithium batteries in their home for backup power, whereas the poorer will just have to endure blackouts. I can’t understand the anti-nuclear hysteria. I read media reports of the ‘elephant’s foot’ puddle of radioactive fuel at Chernobyl, which apparently would kill anyone standing next to it for a short time. However, many of the substances routinely handled by modern industry are so much more dangerous - for instance, a single drop of hydrofluoric acid on the skin will lead to a horrible death, yet this substance is used in the electronics industry without any apparent media hysteria. I do have the anti-nukes to thank for one thing though - a few years ago, I realised that the highly successful campaign by the Greens against nuclear power meant that we’d be dependent on thermal coal for far longer. Bought some coal shares, and have so far multiplied my investment by a factor of 5. -

"Egat is studying over 80 types of SMRs in 18 countries, including China’s Linglong One, located in Hainan, which is the world’s first above-surface commercial SMR." Frankly, there are more issues within Thailand in its ability to transmit power efficiently throughout its electric grid than producing it. -
