Thai-British Beauty Queen Duped Out of 4M Baht, Suspect Arrested
Seems I've misrepresented the facts of the case here. Initially, Parichat and her husband were involved, with them being conned into illegally entering Cambodia and her opening a (Thai?) bank account for which she was paid 3,500 THB. Why travel to Cambodia to do that? How do you open a Thai bank account from Cambodia? Why the elaborate sting with fake offices etc? What were the 20 Thais doing there? The beauty queen runner up was then conned into transferring millions of THB into Parichart's account by somebody impersonating a DSI representative claiming there were suspicious transactions on her account, but if she shelled out 4m THB everything would be ok and she would get the money back eventually, but never did. So she goes to the police. Right? -

Why did Jeff Beck call Jimi a god? Why was Jeff so in awe of Jimi?
We still do not know, for sure, the cause of death for Hendrix. What were the contributing factors, for example? Anyway, Jimi is still more alive today than Elvis the Pelvis. -

Are Thais taught basic arithmetic?
I studied Latin for five years and must confess I struggle to see any similarity between Latin and Thai. Latin is highly structured, caters for a variety of tenses, infers actor, recipient, object very clearly through its accusative, dative etc cases. Thai is almost without structure, has limited vocab compared to English, and its syntax is minimalist. Can you explain to me how Latin and Thai share anything? -

Using a WISE visa debit card "Thai baht" balance wthdrawal fees at SCB or Kasikorn ?
Please does anyone use a physical WISE card at a Kasikorn or SCB ATM machine , withdrawing baht from your Thai baht balance? While I use it for purchases have not tried new card in an ATM. If I withdraw 30,ooo baht the maximum local ATM allows in one transactions what will be the approximate cost please. Is it the fixed foreign card fee around 200-250 baht c $5-10 which is no problem or is it more like the typical range 2-3% charged on foreign currency conversions, which is will cost me close to hundred bucks a month? I realize probably better to take large sum once a month than $100 equivalent daily for "walking around money" Any advice or direct experience welcome -

Automatic Transfer Switch - reasonable cost alternative for faster switching?
I have the standard ATS switch on the solar installation. My network gear and computers don't like the switchover time when the grid fails. Now I have a couple of very basic UPS's to prevent reboots/crashes of those pieces when the grid fails. I only need UPS power for less than a second or two. As I'm always interested in improvement, I'm wondering if there are ATS switches that are fast enough to prevent the reboots without requiring UPS protection for computers and network gear. -

Thailand Targets Tougher Alcohol Laws to Align with Global Norms
People have different preferences. And (most) mom and pop stores don't sell my favourite brands.
