TallGuyJohninBKK
Just curious, what's with the portable metal ramp/stairs in the OP photo, and seemingly the platform being considerably lower than the entry to the train itself? In the BTS and MRT, of course, the platform and train entry walkways are level/even.... Maybe the Prayut tour was getting onto the trains in the OP photo at someplace other than a regular station platform entry??? That's the depot / maintenance centre.

Normally it's quite easy to spot a pregnant person but apparently they are now supposed to ask for a special tag so people recognise that - it is quite bizarre. @Crossy yeah, the BTS announcements are / were usually pretty good but this one is ludicrous. And they seem to have increased the frequency of the announcements and made them much much louder. Moving inside the train away from door areas, hold the straps, don't lean on the stanchions, no eating or drinking, mind the gap between train and platform (there really isn't one), give your seat to pregnant woooomen wearing special tags - constantly on a loop. Quite annoying and pretty pointless.
shady86
Ok tags would make sense. I usually see some selfish commuters sleeping on priority seats so frequent announcements like this would be good.Another would be stop blocking the entrance and move in. Everyone likes standing near the doors making congestion worst.

You don't get have to get up for them - let them stand. That'll teach them not to wear their tag properly.
josephbloggs
Found this. To register for the special tags they need to fill out a form, give ID, provide a medical certificate, and emergency contact details. I mean it's a nice thought, but seriously who is going to bother with all that? http://www.khaosodenglish.com/featured/2018/11/20/front-your-baby-bump-for-better-chance-of-bts-seats/
digbeth
the purpose of the tag is to stop embarrassing moments when you yield your seats to the woman but she declines since she's not pregnant, just fat

TallGuyJohninBKK
Anyone reading here have any suggestions of anything worthwhile to visit or see or do out on the extension part of the BTS line during the period of free trips? In all my years in Thailand and BKK, I've never really spent much time in the Samut Prakan areas down along the river and the coast around Pak Nam, etc etc. If someone was going to take a trip out that way, what's worthwhile to do or go or see once you're off the train?
