Finnish Man Found Dead in Condo

On the 18th of February at 6.30 am Dongtan Police were called to the scene of a fatality at View Talay Condo, building 2 on Thappraya Road.

Police went to the scene with Rescue Volunteers and entered the hotel room of a Mr. Levaharju Kari Antero aged 56. However they were initially opposed to entering the room because of the strong stench of death in the atmosphere.

The gentleman was only wearing his underwear and lying next to the bed in a peculiar position and the air-con in his room was still on.

It was estimated that the man had been dead for around 5 days.

Police questioned two hotel maids who attend the apartment once a week and they told Police they had seen Mr. Levaharju the previous Sunday and he had complained of a stomach condition and requested they get him some mineral salts. The room had been completely cleaned they then went home.

The next Sunday they knocked at the door and nobody answered so they used spare key to open the door. Realizing there was an almighty stench they called Police.

Police also found a heavily soiled toilet and some mineral salts. They assumed that Mr. Levaharju may have been suffering diarrhea and was rushing to the toilet during which he sustained a fatal heart attack and collapsed.

An Autopsy will take place.

The Finnish Embassy has been contacted.
