Problematical? To me, that means they intend to cheat, making it even more important to have the observers.

As everyone else apart from the Junta are making very clear, there can only be on reason why international observers are not wanted, which is it is going to be dishonest and far from free and fair. Might as well cancel the election right now, as the way it stands, the results are probably printed out already.

This is complete nonsense. There is no reason to believe the elections will not be fairly conducted and it is quite wrong and possibly libellous to suggest the results are pre-determined. This is not to say there should not be at least the same level of scrutiny as in the past.

There are of course problems related to the forthcoming election but they relate to the Junta's constitution and the stranglehold of political life in Thailand since the military coup. These matters are however beyond the purview of election observers, whether domestic or foreign.

  • The junta is already open and transparent and even enlist the dead when necessary for verification ????
