Agreed, I don't think anyone can confidently predict the outcome from this crazy mess. Whatever happens, the fact that it has already caused huge economic and social damage to the country is in my opinion beyond doubt.

more mess to come, I would guess

Time for TV, no not TVF.

The Uncivil War on TV  -- The movie about Brexit

Channel 4 has confirmed that the political drama starring Benedict Cumberbatch

will air in the UK at 9pm on 7th January 2019.

HBO meanwhile will broadcast the film in the USA at 9pm on 19th January.

Is there any indication as to which way they lean? My guess is 'remain' which technically won't matter providing everyone remembers it's (only) a television drama.

dunno about that,

but on various media plenty are pissed off by the movie being launched now

as it has the potential for swinging the final outcome of the Brexit game

guess one could say outcome is fairly open;

may-deal flies

no deal brexit

new tory government

2nd referendum, result ???

non conf motion passed - new government - then ???

quite incredible really

this is how far the 5th or 6th largest economy in the world has managed to go in 3 years

and you are happy to brag that its the oldest sound democracy around

it is not sound at  all - it is pretty close to medieval enlightened one man rule,

but fair is fair - enlightened one man rule is the most stable form of governing mankind has seen

totally incapable of doing sound planned politics

if I were a Scot I would do my utmost to get out of UK,

Westminster is a death trap

I am, and we are!

I think the quote in a political context was first made by PM Harold Macmillan (You never had it so good - also one of his). When the wicked witch Margaret Thatcher was privatizing every thing she could, Macmillan (Then in the Lords) accused her of selling off the family silver. Apparently the Gin and Jaguar belt Tories took offense to this at the time !

"but on various media plenty are pissed off by the movie being launched now

The timing suprised me too.  Surely it should not be shown until after March next year?

If the film makers (and Cumberbatch) all/mostly supported remain then it indicates the probability of the film being far from neutral.  But I hope I'm proven wrong in this respect.

The only people likely to be fooled are those with a barely concealed agenda.

well, haven't viewed it

but two msm pieces I have seen concluded along the following lines;

after having seen it, it is quite clear that actors and makers did not vote leave

if I have understood www correctly the movie makes  an effort to

document what is perceived as deception in the leave campaign

If project fear have their way it'll turn out like the AIDS adverts in the 1980s or the alleged hysteria created by Orson Welles radio rendition of the 'War of the Worlds'!

Or how about the fake news that AIDS was created by USA?

Something to learn about disinformation and the origins of Fake news. This applies also to Brexit.

So, what will happen in UK politics in 2019?

While currently the Tories are occupied and pretty much lead by the extreme right wingers and Labour is lead by extreme left winger Corbyn, there is very little room for the moderate minded, thinking people.

In 2019 there will be a new centrist party created, which attracts possibly 20% of current MP's, on both sides. While the start is not a lot, that still means that there will be general elections as current government has lost the confidence of the parliament.

During the elections, there are more MP's turning in to the new centrist party. They'll gain 30% support.

This means that the next government is going include the centrists, not matter what. Torys are not going to form a government with Labour, so the centrists are going to be in the government and pretty much dictate the rules of the future.

After that, will the UK re-apply to EU membership (losing many of it's previous extra benefits)? Perhaps? Perhaps UK will wait a couple of years and see how things turn out before deciding to either apply or stay outside of EU.

Is it time for the UK to move to proportional representation? It has it's faults but it has it's advantages too. Seems to work for Germany.

"Welcome back"

Thank you, it felt like a very long time on 'holiday', but to look on the bright side - it forced me to get on with other things that had been put off for far too long ☺️!

nothing like Brexit and TVF when it comes to screwing up your routines and chores
