NBT TV Phuket Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 <p> The figures just released by the Airports Authority of Thailand, who manage Phuket International Airport, show that the total number of aircraft movements, in and out, were the most ever at 30,887 in 2006 or 28.24% more than 2005, which was badly affected by the tsunami aftermath, but still 3.6% more than 2004, which was the previous peak year before the tsunami. The total number of passengers, in & out plus transiting, on both international & domestic flights, was 4,710,669 in 2006 or 48.6% more than 2005, or 4.2% more than 2004. Perhaps the most indicative figures for tourism is the total number of arriving-in passengers of about 2.3 million or 49.4% more than 2005, or 6.2% more than 2004. On the down-side, the total freight handled was 18,112 tonnes in 2006, or 3.3% less than 2005, and 31.2% less than 2004. from Andaman News TV11 (VHF dial) + Radio Thailand FM90.5 Phuket City, both broadcast to Phang Nga, Krabi & Phuket provinces, 8.30am & later on Phuket Cable TV channel 1, Wednesday 21 February 2007 & www.ThaisNews.com { Our news text and videos can be freely copied, but please give credit to Andaman News TV11 Phuket}
