At the moment I am on an Extension of Stay based on Retirement using seasoned funds and am thinking about changing it to based on Marriage.

My question is as I use the Immigration Office in Hua Hin, would I get my Extension granted on the same day or would there be a delay needing me to come back another day? Reason for the question is that it is a 2 and a half hour drive one way.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

You will get a under consideration stamp with a report back date 30 days from when you apply for the extension, You go back then to get the one year extension stamp. You could call them to confirm the approval has been done to avoid a unneeded trip.

Having used HH for marriage extensions until a few years ago, they increasingly became more difficult about the photographs. Take plenty, different rooms, different clothing, inside and outside including address CLEARLY in at least one picture.

My first extension for marriage there I also had to have a Thai neighbour with their ID and bluebook, not sure if thats required if you are converting from retirement but keep it in mind.

Surely you have to go anyway to get another 30 day under consideration stamp?

No you don't. The under consideration stamp allows you to stay until the extension is approved. The report back date is just that it does not end the under consideration period.

Can you travel outside of Thailand during the "under-consideration" period?

It's bad enough having to arrange overseas trips to avoid the extension date on retirement, but to be restricted for more than 30 days would be worse.

You can get a re-entry permit for the 30 days if you need to travel.
