PHUKET:-- Ten weeks after a Phuket airport taxi driver wiped out six vehicles and killed a motorbike rider whilst driving a tourist from the airport during morning rush hour traffic on Thepkrasattri Rd, the investigating officer from the Thalang Police has yet to formally press charges for reckless driving.

The taxi driver, 23-year-old Marut Puangsombat, was initially charged by police with reckless driving causing death after the wipe out – which killed 40-year-old Phuket resident Mr Anuson Rattanadilok Na Phuket.

A tourist was in the taxi when the accident happened at 8am, Oct 30, but escaped unharmed, and immediately returned to the airport to leave.

This is why the carnage on Thai roads will never abate ,nobody in authority is

taking it seriously enough,at every public holiday they have crackdowns that

do not work, its spoken about a lot,BUT nothing happens, until drivers causing

horrendous accidents where people are killed, and maimed are given custodial

sentences ,especially when under the influence of alcohol or drugs,or dangerous

driving, nothing is going to improve.

You are right, but even more disheartening is this policy concerning taxi licences:

In a criminal case like this, the PLTO will revoke the taxi driver’s license, but only after we conduct our own review of the incident – and that will not happen unless the court finds him guilty,” Mr Praprai said.

In other words, the killer driver is still able to drive a taxi until they put him in jail, if that ever happens. It's been ten weeks and still no charge.

btw, I had to laugh when I read that the tourist who had just landed in Phuket went immediately back to the airport and left. Wise man.

This is exactly what getting a way with a murder means, if you happen to be Thai you’re allowed to do whatever you want at least that’s what it looks like every time they cause accidents ????????‍♂️

Seems someone his family has some influence.  Just more BS that will keep Thailand from advancing in the world.  Never to be taken seriously on any level
