I am sad to read of the tragic end to these young girls’ lives. My condolences to their loved ones, relatives and friends. Life is too precious to end this way and affects all of us. I admire the ladies' trust in other people to allow them to safely vacation and watch daybreak on the beach in Pattaya

For the coward that violated that trust and killed these defense young ladies, I hope you get the justice you deserve… at least jail for the rest of your miserable life.

how sad. could there be a connection to the farang who was also attacked in a beach chair(?) who woke up with his face bloodied by being slammed with a blunt object? There are rare stories of Thais getting extremely violent over small amounts of change - such as beach chair rentals - life-threateningly violent over a snub (paper money dropped on the ground).

I hope authorities do an exemplary job of following clues and apprehending the bad guy. That would bolster their less-than-sterling reputation for bungling investigations in the past.

i go to jomtien beach often for picnics ect... the chairs are tied up through the night, and this happenned at 5am in the morning, it must have been still dark - so its unlikely they were arguing with the chair man, as there are not many people around at that time. the chairs are all tied up around trees ect through the night. maybe they untied them and helped themselves to free chairs - maybe the chair man was raged at this, they do lose there temper very quickly these thai people. maybe time will tell. i hope they catch the person who did it. this has put me off from going again now. this is very bad news for pattaya.

There are no prostitutes in Thailand, either Thais or Russians! The white women you see dancing in a particular corner at CM2 for the last 6-7 years (at least) are legit Eastern European tourists. The same ones goes there every night! Common, an angry Thai man kills these girls over beach chairs, please. From what I heard only Thai men "lose their temper very quickly", no other men in the world, especially those polite Russian men. No, they never kill any innocent women. Pleeasee! Lastly I'd like to know how many Thai prostitutes there are working in Moscow who would get killed if they broke their pimp's rules? Thai pimps can be pretty bad, ya know :-))

Couldn't agree more with this post - the fact is most Thai people are cowards. I used to think Thai people were caring, kind and genuine. It's amazing how quickly you change your opinion of them when you actually come to live here!!!!

I agree. I'm still leaning towards this being more of a hit than an argument gone wrong. There's just too many questions that remain unanswered. The choice of weapon (9mm), combat boots, and the fact that the perp seemed to know exactly how and when to off them all point towards it being something other than the usual thai losing face killing.

It seems like this man was extremely thorough as well making sure both were shot dead..multiple gunshot wounds at close range that caught them seemed to catch them completely by surprise. If it was merely an angry Thai i'd assume it would have been more sloppy.

One glass two people which looked to be not used. One week in country and for sure, if alone, know

not to carry anything of value with you at that time of night no matter where in Pattaya.

A phone with 100 local phone numbers. They did know someone and maybe clientel from the pimp

on the phone for call out service which they refused to take care of after receiving the asian vacation.

Then again not unusual for a local getting hot tempered specially if he, them had waited for the girls to party with and then got shunned after spending/giving some cash to the girls earlier in the night.

Deck chair guy ( who decided not to show up for work) or some other person whom hangs around the beach at night, which there is many drifters that sleep there at night times and party, at least the last time I was there late at night was the case.

As far as seating goes could of been first place and closest place to their hotel on the beach that had chairs already set up.

the chairs are supposed to be taken in at night (around 6 PM)

however when i walked past in the morning at 7.30am all the chairs were in the same arrangement for the days trading. ie one table and 6 chairs around it. This is normal however all the chairs seemed to be left out all night and this is not normal.

It is possible that the women went to this spot as its well lit and has security cameras all around.

the deck chair vendor next to the crime scene always sleeps on the pavement in a tent. However this night he slept across the road in the old house.

There is a camera with an un interupted view a few meters away. There are other cameras along beach rd

The family mart store that they walked past is open 24 hours and could have sold the whisky to them. Many vendors leave glasses at the site.

If this happened at 5AM then where were the police? or did it take over 2.5 hours to respond as when i walked past there was no sign of any action?

Today the area is roped off with plastic strings and not working.

As usual we have the odd mix of women haters and Thai haters posting crazy and inflamitory comments pointing the finger at the group they assumed was evil before this event took place. Well..wait a second.

I saw the photo of the dead girl's on the front page of today's (Sunday's) Thai Rath (the one with the green and black banner if don't know the difference), and it looks like a complete stage-job.

One has her head on the other's shoulder. Like she was napping. The other has her head back with what appears to be an abdomen injury (this part is blurred-out).

Both are very pretty like they are asleep and a single glass and small bottle of Mekong and a mobile phone is on the little square beach table in front of them.

I've edited and added this line to make my point a bit clearer. I've seen people really dead from violence..and it doesn't look like that. Shooting someone in the guts does not mean an instant neat death-throw-your-head-back-and-let the -smoke-fall from your-hand in your last breath kind of tv nonesense. It's gross and very messy and a slow death. That's way way to neat for a double killing. Both sitting in the chair head on each other's shoulder what amateur crap is that? What's wrose is the police and the local media eat it all up - no questions as usual.

I don't pretent to be doing the job of Kunying Porntip, but to me it looks like they were killed somewhere else and then brought to this staged "crime-scene".

As for the shooter..well they take the dead girls there (5am - not a lot of people around - maybe by boat). The Thai guy is waiting (a 9mm--standard police issue by the way..and ya all know how upstanding they are..) fires a couple of shots in the air as he was instructed then runs off to a motorcycle and rides off.

Motive? Gang stuff. Could be rape/murder ata different location by important people...only way to know is get a real forensic person like Porntip to do the autopsy. I wouldn't trust the police dr's.

Rather incredible and insulting all these assumptions here. Pattaya is a big destination for Russian package tourism.

If you guys for example would have had a look at 'Luang Ching Pan Jor' one and a half weeks ago, there was a case of two russian female tourists who were attacked in Pattaya by thugs trying to steal their handbags. One of them was stabbed badly, nearly died, but was saved.

No hits, no prostitution, just the usual crime in Thailand's disneyland.

The difference is nothing was stolen or attempted to be stolen this time, if not a robbery, what is the motive?

this sounds pretty close to me, the security guard also stated they did this often, the thai guy obviously didn't like the girls using his chairs and table in the small hours so he killed them, these girls came here for a phucking holiday, this is not mafia or anything else, these girls where murdered by a crazed thai lunatic of which there seem to be many many more, mafia hit men don't shoot people in the arm

I don't think we are doing a disservice to the women by trying to theorise who, and what the motive of their killer was.

I've heard a few good theories here already. One guy pointed out something I completely over looked; the combat boot prints were probably from the Guard, not the shooter. He was the first one on the scene and combat boots are standard issue for Security Guards.

Isn't that the beauty of bloggs, that people can share their own theories with others (whether they agree or not)? Who knows with the collective intelligence and imaginations of people on this blogg, we might just crack this case.

Two female Russian nationals were shot dead on Jomtien beach in Pattaya yesterday, police said. Livbov Svirkova, 25, and Tatiana Tsimfer, 30, were found dead in their deckchairs.

Witnesses said they heard several gunshots and saw a man walk up from the beach before riding away on a motorcycle.

Police are reviewing security camera footage and questioning Russian women working at night spots in South Pattaya.

The victims' friends, who were in Kanchanaburi, were also contacted for questioning. The victims and their friends arrived in Thailand in a tour group on Feb 16. Police suspect the victims were sex workers masquerading as tourists.

I would generally agree on the hit theory but the time of hit is odd. Who could have known these girls were going to be sitting at the beach at 5am? An odd plan if it was a hit. A pro would most certainly put a round to the heads of the victims before driving off. You really don't take the time to check their pulse to see if the body shots have done the job..

I agree with Thaigene2 in his/her assessment of this tragedy... Too much fishiness on too many levels... That table looks way to clean to me to be the actual crime scene... Looks very staged...

This was done by pros... Scary, but this was not likely to be an enraged Thai chair tout or even a drunken offended yabaa user... Sounds like a deep sad story with many threads... Who knows these ladies from back home in Russia? What was the long story here?

It's really so bad of you to judge over the victims just because of thoughts you have of Russians in your head.

Lot of Russians come to Thailand, many girls of different age. Desire to make a trip to exotic country doesn't make them prostitutes. And even if Russians live here, it doesn't mean they do something criminal to afford it. We can work and earn the money in the legal way.

Our girls pretty, young and wear some revealing clothes, but 99,9% of them aren't prostitues in Pattaya. Or even bigger procentage. They are good, kind-hearted, intelligent. The only reason they are different and could seem to have weird habits is different culture. Don't be so stupid and try to broad you mind, at least a little bit.

It's just annoying, you know. And not only here. I happened to have a talk with some man in Bangkok hotel - he started it. Then he knew where I am from, he asked me if I was a prostitute. It's such an offence!

Though you might find this painful, it is the general perception. Pattaya loses out on a lot of "family" touristes because of that reputation. Also it depends what time you work and where, doesn't it? Don't try to argue with them. On every page of this topic the is an idiot start shouting "hookers" and "Russian mafia". There is nothing to do with this - many westerners in Pattaya are gobblers, bum-######ers and other shit. Just mental problem with their distorted logics. They are keen to suspect prostites in Russian girls they did not know, and all their experience about Russians is based on primitive Holywood movies. I know many Russians in Pattaya, none of them is prostitute of mafia either.

In Russia we say: about dead person talk good, or nothing. Just think about it...
