WHY? with both BTS and MRT going there, the walk could just be a short train-ride. You must have been there and thus noted there are not many in the area itself. Or define walking-dist.: Thai style, polluted-air style or crazy-farang-style?

There are dozens of new-style hoStels, also doing private rooms in the Sapan kwai area, just use any of the dozens of booking-sites to find them. For now avoid the Lard-Prao due to the immense traffic jams for that monorail. For classy-style, way above your budget, the Centara grand above the Central L.Prao.
