Hi ,

I'm talking about the kind of the machine u see in the shops that charge you 0.50 satang per page

What model u think/reccomend match to reach the cost that leave these shops some profit?

Is there any profit with this thing?

Cost of these machines?

Cost of the ink ?

Any personal experience?

Thank you in advance :o

In general, the lower the cost of the printer, the higher the operating cost (toner/ink, drum, fuser, etc). To get cost per page really low, you'd need a big high-volume printer and print a *lot*. Even then, you'd end up paying around 1 baht per page, just for toner costs (without adding the cost of the printer and paper). You can go the refill route, but refills can sometimes kill your printer (it killed my workhorse HP printer), without much cost savings.

To get .50 satang per page, you'd need to run a *copy* shop. Big copiers can use fairly cheap low-grade toner, and can do high volume. Even then, you'd need to budget very well indeed.

Basically, you're confusing xerox shops with laser printers.

Had a brother 1430 HL as main office printer for 2 or 3 years, always reseted the drum. Still working great, Quality is going down a bit but I guess the drum has already double of its planned pages.

Use it now only for envelopes and fedex documents were quality is not so important. But still the quality is OK.

Once it did not print anymore on the right side of the document. They cleaned the laser (at least I understood that) work 2 min/50 Baht. All my brother laser printer work well so far. They are not great wounderfull devices but cheap and good workhorses.

So you want to run a Xerox (copy) shop? Then to be cost effective like the shops themselves, you'd need to buy a pretty big Xerox machine. Normally they buy second-hand. Toner is bought in bulk, as well as paper. Of course you'd need to have some very cheap help or do the copying yourself.

Best bet would probably be to go to the shops and talk to them. They're basically everywhere, especially the universities (Thais can't afford textbooks, so most are copied). Even if one shop won't talk to you, there are bound to be some that will. Biggest issue would be "location, location, location", since if you don't have customers, you're screwed. You're going to need to do a *lot* of copying to make a profit.

Have a look at ebay first. not that you want to buy there, but last time I searched for something simillar I saw them. There you see all the models, types at what amount of pages they are considered as lemon.....
