Temp2.exe File Error

Featured Replies

Yesterday one of my Thai friends said he had a computer problem and asked me to have a look. I don't really know that much about computers but had a look. When you boot up the computer, running XP, at the end of the startup it shows an error message in "temp2.exe" and the standard Windows "do you want to send an error report?" Regardless of what you click the computer shuts off and then reboots repeating the sequence.

I did some Googling and it looks to be a virus but can't find an answer on how to get rid of this problem. If anyone is familar with this issue I'd appreciate finding out how to help this guy to get his computer running again.

Thanks

Start the computer in safe mode and run it's antivirus. In safe mode the temp.exe shouldn't load.

Usually, hitting F8 or F5 when windows starts to load brings up a screen where you can choose to run in safe mode.

Temp2 exe is also known as irc.momma worm

Do a search for "irc.momma worm removal tool" There appears to be plenty of sites offering solutions.
