Pattaya's head of tourist police Lt-Col Piyapong Ensarn announced the arrest of a drunk motorcycle taxi rider who assaulted a 60 year old tour bus driver, his 62 year old wife and a 39 year old female guide.

Samut Yansakhorn, 43, was rounded up outside a beer bar in South Pattaya. He had an alcohol reading of 146.

Earlier Saneh, 60, his wife Cha-em, 62 and guide Wachiraporn, 39, had gone to an Indian restaurant in South Pattaya to pick up 40 Indian tourists.

In parking Saneh had got close to some motorcycles but had caused no damage.

Someone shouted that a bike had been hit and Samut, who was eating bamee noodles at the time, rushed out and claimed his bike had been damaged.

He assaulted the driver and his wife and the guide who tried to intervene before fleeing the scene.

Saneh was left with facial injuries and bruising and his wife and the guide suffered minor bruising.

Samut claimed that he was attacked first. Police dismissed this and CCTV later proved everything that the driver said was true and everything that the motorcycle taxi driver said was a lie.

The "win" rider had been charged with assault, DUI and having an illegally registered vehicle.

What is the point of leaving my motorbike at home when going out drinking when many (not all) of the MB Taxi drivers are plastered especially after midnight, police should be doing random checks at taxi ranks

Steamroller over the motorbike to learn what a damage is.

Vest burned to ashes.

That would tell him a lesson.

But 500 Baht more likely.

Maybe the journalist is paid per word?

If so, I wonder why it didn't mention 'a large bowl of bamee noodles'?

They need to be slightly numbed, I suggest a reading between 50mg/100ml and 150 as best!

If they're big enough.

When quoting an "alcohol reading", it is vitally important for the writer to state whether it was taken from a breath sample, a urine sample or a blood sample AND to include units e.g. micrograms/litre or milligrams/100 ml etc.

Without these pieces of information, the statement is meaningless as is the case here.

This makes me think the "journalist" has just thrown down some information crabbed from the cops without any thoughtful input as to reader understanding and accuracy and, in addition, the editorial process is non-existent. The whole result sounds like a wide-eyed, breathless account from a low-IQ bystander.

I would be more concerned about the amount of Yaba these guys are necking

Taxi man wont let this go to much loss of face with all that finger pointing. I expect a revenge attack on their next trip

The legal limit in Thailand is usually designated as "50 mg/100 ml of blood".

(with the temporary 2 year license it's 20 mg/100 ml).

So "146" would be quite clear in this context.

About three times the limit.

Some can stand upright and walk straight with this, some can not

Whether breath or blood test, no idea?

Perfect example why you should not post when you do not posses the knowledge .

drink driving charge is 8000 baht fine

assault is minimum 5000 baht fine

bad registration another 1000-2000.

compensation for injuries may get the wai, and forgiveness , other charges require court appearance and fines to be paid .

And no, it’s not a normal day in paradise, rather a rare incident

re drunk drivers be it taxi or moto, a little story, years ago in Turkey 4 of us decided to go to the market, guy was driving like a clown, i was sat in the front, i mentioned his driving he said *you drive,* opened the door and took his hands off the steering wheel, there was me reaching over steering this dam taxi with 3 terrified pasengers in the back, and the maniac driver laughing his head off

I believe they use breath test machines here. There is a quick test administered on stopping, and if you fail that I believe you get to use a more accurate device and true blood testing is not available. (The devices estimate blood alcohol from the breath test somehow).

Punch and Judy shows are alive and well here a sound business opportunity awaits as there is no language barrier either????

Pattaya Plod should start doing checks on meterless taximeters first.  The taxi mafia are protected by the police mafia.

to be fair, pattaya was 100% worse before, now a days there is not so much crime like it was 3-6 years ago, before it was everyday shootings, stabbings, gang fights, tourist robberies, armed robberies on tourists, tourists got attacked, now you hardly here about shootings, stabbings, gangs etc.  okey shootings and stabbings will never go away but it has decreased whole lot

Is this alcohol related or a case of yaba-daba-doo? Opening this article has made my day when I saw the finger points. I have not seen some good ones for a while. That said, I am a strong believer that finger pointing should only be done by the perpetrators as a means of humiliation, not by the victims.

I would also like to add that the lady in the middle with the yellow shirt is doing an excellent finger point, posture and facial expression to go with it. The man and the other lady not so much. It doesn't look like everyone was ready when the picture was taken, even the cops. I blame that on the photographer though.
