PHUKET: The Kamala Tambon Administrative Organisation (OrBorTor) has vowed to raise the issue of the black water running across the sand and into the sea southern end Kamala Beach with the Phuket Governor while the local authority works to clear the water and find the source of the pollution.

Kamala OrBorTor Deputy Chief Nopporn Karuna told The Phuket News today (Feb 25) that effective micro-organism (EM) balls were being prepared so they can be deployed throughout the Pak Bang Canal to mitigate the concentration of of contaminants in the water.

“Now we are preparing to add EM balls to the canal as quickly as possible. Also, we will remove the black sand and soil from the canal,” he said.

Mr Nopporn explained that his office was first informed of the black at the popular tourist beach on Friday (Feb 22).
So why has it taken nearly 4 days to move into action..............:whistling:

“The EM balls will be deployed tomorrow (Feb 16),” he added
Then, miraculously, they are taking preventative action one week before it is reported..........

EM Balls..........Environment Minister's by any chance......

Yuck!

Hope they test that stuff asap and find the source and stop it !!!!

Don't look like raw sewage to me. I grew around Manly beach, NSW Australia as a kid and like all crazy bulletproof kids surfed in stinky foam and brown greasy water almost every day cause the waves were more important than THE STINK AND POO lol lol.

Sewage in any outfall/outlet pipes as it runs into or is in the sea is usually brownish in colour and solids that are easily recognisable as real brown poo, and always has a brownish creamy foam along with it and it stinks like poo.

While there are a  large number of small time polluters , everyone knows the major source , and that is the largest beach front hotel . ( Its name starts with the name of that  hot ball in the sky ...)

Quite ironic really , and a classic case of 'Sh*tting in ones own nest '...

Its anyones guess as to why they are never brought to task.

But having said that , Kamala has NO sewerage system . So we shouldnt expect any improvement soon.

In fact , we should expect it to get worse , as many hundreds of new rooms come on line , and not one of the developers has bragged about making  a small footprint , or installing any sort of water treatment plant .

Kamala is degrading VERY rapidly ...

Hopefully this problem will find a fix soon, as the big 5 star waterfront hotels(Novotel, Sunwing, Mont Azure, Cape Sienna and Andara) will lose fortunes in lost room occupancy if the problem persists for any significant period of time.

tripadvisor and the other hotel review sites will be overloaded with “stinky blackwater” reviews, and that should drive these big hotels to either find a long term remedy or go bankrupt.
