True. Attitude that rules in general in most societies is that survival of the fittest takes place. And most will take to their own advantage ahead of others' interests, wether it be the girl who takes a forced tip or the businessman that pays her peanuts. Some will side with the girl. Some not. At one local desert cafe I paid for the 4 of us and we were walking away when the waitress came with like less than 10 baht change which we told her to keep. Yesterday I gave a taxi driver 150 for a fair of 119. I went in my house to stamp the mobaan security slip for him and he had 30 baht change ready to give me. I gave it him for a tip, he was very helpful, big smile and wai in appreciation. I tip good service and don't tip poor service. He's probably more annoyed that he's just too meek to simply ask, "Can I have my change please?" But then again avoid any places like Pattaya, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Udon Thani, or Khao San Road. Guess what ? 99.99999 % of the time i have few if any issues with the Thais.
