A motorbike driver died soon after colliding with a minivan at a U-turn in Thalang yesterday.

The Tha Chatchai Police were notified of the incident at 1.08pm yesterday on Thepkrasattri Road in Mai Khao.

Police and emergency responders arrived to find the silver minivan waiting for police. Nearby they found a man, later identified as 55 year old Kreangsak Sanaewit, who had sustained serious injuries.

NEVER drive without a working dash cam in your car, at least one facing frontwards and if possible one to the rear. A dash cam in LOS is as valuable as petrol in the tank.

This pre-supposes that you are not at fault of course and drive according to the rules, such as they are.  Can be a double edged sword of course.

Hard to believe that this bike rider was physically and mentally fit for driving.

Drunk, drugs, blind?

Didn't leave the slightest chance to the minivan driver.

The argument that he was speeding does not convince in this case.

Compare the minivan to the racing bikes and traffic on the opposite direction.

more like suicide. so many of these videos where the drivers seem completely unaware of their surroundings.

at least it was quick.

He waited for the motorbikes but did he think the van will evaporate?

Too much to watch two lanes? Viewing angle 60 degrees???

Indeed, good that no others were hurt (at least nothing mentioned).

Well, he did a mistake, and I'm sure most of us have done that in traffic, and after realised that we were lucky to escape an accident. For some reason this guy didn't.

I reckon it was suicide, the motorbike rider drove straight out into the oncoming minivan. It's one way to go without all the family knowing you took your own life!

You definitely have to be on the ball in this country,  In the video i even see the white SUV on the other side of the road cross into the other lane forcing the black pickup to move over,  everytime I drive here and get home without incident it was a successful day ????

Was the motor bike trying to go against the flow of traffic?

Not really, just a bit :whistling:

I guess he wanted to change over to the Soi on the left in the video.

"Diagonal shortcut".

At start of video sign before intersection says no U turn so what does the 4 wheel drive do. Total lack of POLICE upholding the law. Policing in this country is an absolute JOKE

He certainly was and you see it so often here. The only accident I've seen happen (rather than the aftermath of one) was identical to this one.

It is also a common habit for motorists to drive at high speed, in the outside lane when passing a U turn opening, just as we see here.

These U turns are so dangerous. I always approach them with great caution.
