Does anybody have any recs for good car mechanics other than the following reccomended in a thread last year (and if anyone has any recent comments on either?)-

Adithep motor access, 09447792407

Mr Sakda 0817156819

I am looking to get the timing belt changed on my Triton and the Mitsu dealer are quoting 12k..........

I also need a 100k service.

You should be happy to pay only this at the official dealer ! I pay more than this just to change oil at Benz !

If you you look at one of the threads in the Motor forum people have quoted 2-3k for say Toyota original timing chain parts - and I doubt Mitsu will be much different. Adding on labour I am struggling to understand where 12k comes from.

Comparing it to an oil change on your Merc is irrelevant.

I may yet still go the dealer route but only idiots or people with more money then sense would "be happy" to pay what appears to be a well padded price for anything.......

Factory parts will cost a lot more than ฿2-3k, assuming you are talking about the full kit and not the belt alone.

IIRC there is also a balance shaft belt and its wise the change the water pump at the same time. ฿12k sounds ok to me.

Yes I now have a breakdown of the parts although seems to come to more than 12k. Going back today to clarify and book in to have it done.

Tried to get a few things done there, they don't want to order parts or don't have them for Mitsus so ended up going to the dealer. Finally after 9 years got so fed up with Mitsu service we sold the car and bought another brand (KIA).

I usually use megazip to get the part numbers and then google and check in aliexpress for the prices. Non-OEM parts from China are very cheap, if you have the time and don't care about OEM parts. For a timing belt I'd go OEM and dealer every time, bent valves aren't a nice thing to have.

Thanks and yes that is what I have decided. Not had any major issues in 7 years with the Mitsu dealer on services so here's hoping.

I have had a detailed estimate and parts list from them for what they do and too much to organise separately.
