It is much easier to steal an election if no one is paying attention. 

I can imagine how close scrutiny of the election process would make some people in office quite nervous. There's no need for prying eyes -- nothing to see here. Just move along and accept that Thailand has a Prime Minister Elect for Life. 

The lack of coverage is more stressful. Nation seems to have it's hush-hush days too.
