A bit late but a humorous preview of the Swans/Blues game for Rip and Radar by Mr O'Reily..

Sydney vs Carlton(SCG) Fox 1:45pm

Neither side is playing finals so the interest here is for Crows fans. How much can the disastrous success of the Blues under David Teague ruin your draft pick?

This week Carlton director Chris Judd wrote off Teague being appointed full time, before the club tried to walk his comments back, which was hard given Judd is on the selection panel.

Judd said they wanted an experienced coach, after the Bolton experiment failed so badly. At the same time, Mick Malthouse and Denis Pagan weren’t exactly lacking in experience.

Carlton have shown they can ruin a coaching career whether it’s a premiership coach or someone who’s never coached before.

Even if Teague is not being considered, why would you say so publicly? Perhaps the success their having felt awkward, so Judd decided to cut that off before it became a habit at the Blues.

The Swans late season form has unfortunately come too late for them this year, and Sydney fans will have to figure out what to do in September, something they’re no used to.

As a Melbourne supporter, let me offer some tips:

  •  Become obsessed with the draft and convince yourself an eighteen-year-old you’ve never heard off is going to turn your club, and your life, around.
  • Get hopeful you’ll land a big free agent then watch the media conference where they sign with Geelong as you cry into your two-day-old pizza
  • Convince yourself that next year things will be different.

Sydney to win this.

Same for FJ.

Essendon vs North Melbourne (MS) Fox 4:35pm

Essendon has been in the news this week, with former star and Bomber Thompson helpfully teaching us all that you can have 33 grams of methamphetamine and 481 MDA pills in your house and not get convicted of trafficking.

I’d assumed it was lower than this, so the good news is we can all stock up.

Both these teams are hoping to make the eight, after mid-year resurrections and a loss here would certainly end those dreams for North and probably would for the Bombers.

A win here and Rhyce Shaw would have to be seriously considered for the full-time role.

The most North thing would be for Shaw to go to St Kilda because North was trying to land Longmire and wouldn’t commit to him, only for Longmire to sign with Sydney and North to then get someone nobody wants, like Brad Scott.

The AFL’s crackdown on punching is as weak as ever, with Ben Cunnington, fined again for striking, not suspended. That means he has paid $15,500 in fines this season, fined four times for striking and once for making careless contact with an umpire. Remember, the AFL are serious about stamping out punching by funding their Christmas party.

Normally I wouldn’t want to see Essendon make the finals, but it would be amusing to see them get in just to watch all the Bombers fans who hate Worsfold trying to deal with a cavalcade of mixed emotions.

Yet, I think the Roos will win this.

The Swans late season form has unfortunately come too late for them this year, .

What form. They have lost their last 2 games

Great tipping Radar. Watch for the last game of the round. Last week FJ did not tip Brisbane and only got 8/9.

Will the Lions cause another upset? Be careful  Radar, be very careful.

While i'm shattered the Roos lost with 20 seconds to go,i was a happy loser if there can be one.

Could not of been prouder of Ben Brown and the boys since our record against the Bombers had not been great in recent history.

You can barrack for the team that comes second if they try till the end,it makes a difference.????

Not sure how others saw it but it looked like a cracker game to me.

Was a belter of a game FJ.

Think in the last 2 minutes your boys lost composure and just kept dump kicking out of defence

where Essendon had set up.

Reckon Norf are the most physical side in the comp.

Would've liked the tip though:smile:

Now if the Kiwi's can do the right thing tonight, the weekend won't have

been a complete disaster.

Ive mentioned it here a few times.......goes back to when we and the Saints were the wiping boys of the VFL late 70's and particular the 80's....you just don't listen to me sir.......

I still have fond memories when the Blues knocked off the Bombers in the 1999 prelim......one loss for the year took it to two...ho dear and we met them in the 2000 GF....oh well om my....

I can give you my taken of it WILL........he won't be coaching  in 10 ys time, should have taken the money and moved to the Shinboners....its called preservation......Ross Lyon knows all about it.....

Some scathing comments from a Swan and ex TV member particular last season though has quietened some what this year...claims Horse dont make many moves, is late to make adjustments....well holy me...sounds like Goodwin...actually Goodwin dont make any adjustments we can notice on game day.....

He has a relatively young squad. I hope he can mould these young ones in the next couple of years. He has been with the club since 2002 and head coach since 2011. We have him now until 2023. We have to live with the decision of the Swans board. Only time will tell.

Brisbane again stop a member picking the full card.

Having said that, a great effort by Radar on picking 8.

Again, with his Blues winning, a good weekend for him.

Still pretty tight at the top.

Same time again next week.

That aside it was great tipping Radar well done

Well who would have thought...hey?.....playing mammoth Brendon Pruss  along side Bailey Fritch excuse the spelling...up forward for most of the game would see a better 4 quarter effort and produce close to a match winning score.....

I mean Bailey kicked close to 40 goals in his first season as a forward equal on the ground as in the air......and the big man....showed enough early in the season he was ready, now I wonder who thought after 16 rounds......turn a light bulb on.......yes who would have thought 16 rounds in....16 long rounds in.....oh its been a long time coming....16 rounds in......

Sydney (62) v Carlton (69)

With every victory, David Teague looks better, and Chris Judd looks sillier.

The questions should be, will Judd be around next year? The assumption that because someone was good at football, they’d be good at other things has always been one based on few facts.

Teague falling into this role is probably the best explanation why he is working so well.

Not being picked by the Blues board is the greatest asset a Carlton coach could have, after all, they’ve made the wrong decision every time for decades.

Perhaps Judd realises this and by not backing him, is, in fact, endorsing him.

And Teague has made a huge difference. Under Bolton, the Blues were like a 1997 Corolla that had somehow driven into the middle of an F1 race.

Now Carlton are at least the right sort of car.

Sydney on the other hand were quite awful in this one. Injuries explain a bit, youth explains some, but when Carlton lead you at home all day, you have to wonder where the heart was.

The only positive from this was the Swans finally got through a game without injuries, which might reflect how they played.

Yep, he's had a pretty good year considering.

It was his body of work over 6 years that did him.
