There's a lot of that going on in these threads, particularly (IMO) from remainers. All they achieve is to stifle debate & drive reasonable posters away. I accept that there are some plonkers on the other side too & I dare say some might place me among them if they're unable to differentiate between a serious post & banter/humour.

YMMV. All I see is this childish nonsense coming from Brexiteers. I tried to post a reasoned argument. Not one Brexiteer has challenged my post with reasoned argument. Just thrown back innane and irrelevant remarks. Q.E.D.

So the reasons I gave for Campbell calling a referendum wasn't a fact?

The showings of the various parties at the recent local elections and the swings for and against them weren't facts?

The support, for or against Brexit, that those parties have shown, weren't facts?

You really need to up your game, if you have one.

Was there a referendum on soup?

We've all seen the LG results but your interpretation of the reasons for them are only your opinion.

At last you have finally understood something...Well done.????

Yes, I have understood that Brexiteers have no game and only capable of inane comments. Oh for a Brexiteer who could make a sensible and reasoned reply to my interpretation of the facts as I see them.

I live in hope.....but won't be holding my breath.

Very sorry, I had forgotten that the majority of Brexiteers are old buffers who haven't got to grips with the 21st century.

YMMV = "Your Mileage May Vary" i.e. your experience may be different.

Ah..seems that a certain bottlers a bit nippy today..is it the UK weather perhaps???
Anyway..local council elections are exactly that.
The bigger picture comes near the end of the month..when people vote for toothless tigers..who's ONLY job worth talking bout is rubber stamping with the occasional tweak..the junk that comes from on high.
Aka..b/s from the eu commission
Have a lovely day and perhaps enjoy a waffle.

If local elections are only that, how come Cameron reacted by calling a referendum as a result of local council results?

Elections for MEPs have never formed part of "the big picture". The British public have always shown a high degree of apathy towards them, with them consistently recording historically low turnouts. Usually used by extremists to get their voice heard. This is born out by the fact that UKIP have won several seats in the Euro elections but not one genuine seat in parliament.

BTW. I live permanently in Thailand, not the UK, although I did a short visit a couple of weeks ago. However, I don't live in a shed in Nakon Nowhere.

When people realised that they had been conned and lied to during the 1970’s EEC referendum, they then started to educate themselves with the help of social media. ( Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me)Over the next 30 odd years this clambering for a vote became so loud, that Cameron understandably relented and allowed the British people to partake in the largest Democratic vote in the countries history.

BTW. Until early 2018 I lived in Thailand for 20yrs, and I can assure you,not in a shed. Now I live in a region of the U.K that has been heavily effected by the influx of cheap Eastern European labour. And I can assure you, no matter how Brexit pans out, the British people will never accept the E.u.

A trading block yes, but not for what it now stands for, and certainly not the direction the unelected Bureaucrats intend to frog March us into.

The volume switch on the "clambering for a vote" wasn't loud at all until Farage came on the scene. It was he alone that turned the volume up. Cameron reacted to a poor showing in the local elections which suggested that the Tories would take a caning from UKIP in the following GE. Do you really think that an Old Etonian and Bullingdon club member gives a jot about your voice?

My reference to my place of residence was a reply to Malagateddy, not you.

It always makes me laugh when someone speaks for 'the people of the UK', when the referendum was very close to 50-50, and all signals are that at the moment the feelings are in the other direction from the speaker.

How could you waste all that typing and still come up with the wrong answer?
It’s total ball licks. Spin that Alastair Campbell would be proud of.

So explain why it's the wrong answer. Or is that too difficult for you?

You probably haven’t noticed, but the two main parties trying to trick us in Remaining are CON & LAB. The people have voted against both of them.

You probably haven't noticed the implied "transparently" between the words "that" and "back" in the comment.
