Downloaded this utility from the forum but just like another poster, I'm having problems. It says "none found" beneath network PC after its finished although I'm obviously connected.

All the Ip info and host name above it are correct though.

I'm curious whether people are conecting to my network as my newtwork name is listed as a free wifi spot in my area :o even though I had WEP enabled. (I have enabled WPA & MAC since then)

I don't know which pgm you use but if is Advanced IP Scanner, it's shows the connected computer in the IP-Range you defined or the one you use on you comp like 192.168.1.1 til 192.168.1.254! Other connections it want show!

If you use an unsecure WiFi network, you need to define a key and secure the network and only people whit that key can logon. Consult the manual of your WiFi product for how to do!

If you want to see other connection you need to use a "Sniffer" pgm!

Thnaks for the replies. I am new to wifi security so please bear with me.

I have locked it down with MAC and actvated WPA so I reckon I'm secure now.

However, I'm still unsure how someone was accessing my network before as I had WEP activated since day one on wifi.

I know the FBI can crack WEP in less than 3 minutes but I was listed as a free wifi hotspot which obviously doesnt involve cracking.

When my computer asks me if I want to save passwords I have always clicked yes, is there anyway other computers can access my network without having to physically type a password i.e. they see my ****** disguised password on their screen and they simply click conect?

Also, when I hide my SSID from being displayed and then click on

"view available wireless networks"

my display now shows an unsecure computer to computer connection

but then when I activate my SSID to be shown it shows a secure WPA conection.
