There is a big scare in the USA about measles right now ,

Overdone I am sure , but it got me thinking if the vaccine shot I got decades ago is still working !

So how long does it last ?

Thanks

My understanding is that the measles / mumps / rubella (MMR) shots you got as a nipper are good for life ????

If you had it in the USA, you almost certainly had the combination measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine. Measles is one of those things where you are protected for life after vaccination, no boosters required.

My late mother became deaf as a result of measles aged 11 ... life changing of wich she was rather bitter about it the rest of her life, is it any wonder folks getting paranoid about it.

Thanks Sheryl , that's what I thought but there were others on the radio saying  it expired.

I hate all the BS the anti vaccine people spread ,

Bad enough in the USA , but people are being killed in places like Pakistan for trying to vaccinate the people there.

I've read several articles that if you were vaccinated between 1963 - 1967 you received a single dose and should have a booster:  https://www.menshealth.com/health/a22745791/measles-vaccine/

Those of us born before 1957 are assumed to have had the disease, and I vividly remember having had it, mainly because my father, who was a shy only child living in a rural environment somehow escaped having all the "normal" childhood diseases and so came down with them when my brother and I got them.  Of course, as an adult these disease were very rough.  Mumps nearly killed him.
