I am braziliam , retired ,66 y.o , enter Thailand Dec 05 , with a non O A visa , which is going to expire Oct,12 ,2019.

I am going to Europe for 1 month ,this July , and coming back to Thailand .

I do have a travel emergency insurance policy , which I am renewing , every 6 months , which is the maximum time they allow you ,for every renewing ,

since 2012 , when I started  traveling.

My question is ,  if I do need to have this new insurance police , 400.000 for in-patient and 40.000 for out- patient , to show immigration ,when I reenter Thailand , by the end of July ????

Thanks in advance for for help .

You will not need to show insurance on entry using your OA visa since the requirement will only be for doing the application for a new one when they go into effect.

Thank you very much Ubonjoe , I hope the IO knows that.

I assume the OA visa is basically the retirement extension?  I have been away from the board are you saying that it is now also required to have insurance for your retirement extension?

No.
The long stay O-A Visa can only be issued by a Thai Embassy/Consulate.

An extension based on retirement is a permit, not a Visa.

The proposal only applies to new Non O-A Visa applications from a date yet to be confirmed.

No.

As said, it is a Visa issued in your own country.

No, it is not, but you might see someone post not knowing the difference.

There is discussion and announcements medical insurance will be required for Non-Imm OA Visas, as it is already required for the OX. It has not been announced that in-country extensions require medical insurance.
