Some confusion has arisen after a visit to the local market. 

We already have what everyone might call turmeric (ขมิ้น, kumin) in the garden, but we just bought something called "Kumin chan". which has much thicker roots than the stuff we already have, the guy said it was 'to eat, the one we have is medicine' (I think). Anyone able to guess what this is? There are quite a few different turmerics.
