Ten VOA's in six months.

 

At 15 days a time that means you have spent about five of those six months living in Thailand. And the other month seems to be staying in other border hop countries. If I was the IO, I'd be asking "how much time do you actually spend 'visiting' your own country"?  VOA's are not designed to allow you to live almost permanently in Thailand. No wonder Immigration are likely to refuse you another VOA entry.

 

Take the advice of other posters here and look at alternative visas available, however difficult you think they might be to obtain.

A multiple entry tourist visa requires more documentation and sometimes a letter from employer, and is only available from your home country, so it's understandable this might not be doable if you're just using savings. But an SETV doesn't require any financial documents - it's unusual to have one of these rejected or voided if you apply in your passport country.

 

The frequency of your trips in the past six months suggests you've just been mostly hopping in and out from neighbouring countries. Did you try and get your SETV from a regional embassy? Phnom Penh for example is known for issuing a lot of single entry tourist visas with voided stamps.

Those are easier to get for some nationals than others.  Some who have to apply in their passport-country deal with a Thai Consulate who denies many applications - even if meeting all the published requirements.

While I am discussing with senior members on this forum my girlfriend keeps on crying.

Yes - my GF (now wife) used to be more stressed than I was about my Visa trips as a Tourist.  I used to send her a picture of the entry-stamp via Line, as soon as I successfully entered the country, so she could relax.

 

These (expletive deleted) don't care what they are doing to the Thais affected by their "crackdowns" - whether those we love, or those we keep employed.

Not trying to be rude, but just "facts of life" - unless your GF was never in a previous live-in relationship when you met, it sounds as if they are setting the price too high.  If she has a child already, forget anything beyond a token sin-sod - that ship has sailed.

 

If you are employable and/or have a decent income (appears you can, to make the travels), they should be happy if she lands a supportive husband, and work something out on sin-sod.  This assumes they don't have a problem with your nationality.

 

Also, there are 2 marriage ceremonies - one held at her family home, which is where all the sin-sod business comes up - and one at the amphur, which is non-formal - just signing papers.  Only the 2nd one at the amphur has any relation to immigration / visas.

At the bad entry-points, yes.  Thais not part of the farang-hater clique are still friendly.  I have had exactly 2 bigoted-interactions with ordinary Thais in 6 years - and those were years ago, with bus/van drivers, and not serious (just them being rude).

When I was here on Tourist Visas, I always went straight to immigration the first day they were upon upon my entry to Thailand to submit a TM-30.  It's a bit of a PITA, but not the end of the world.  That done, extensions were not a problem.

In my experience, your Thai GF or Wife being dragged through an emotional s-storm is the worst part about dealing with immigration.   The hater-clique often treat the Thai wife as a traitor to her country - as happened to mine, when we applied for a marriage-based extension - and no telling what they told her / called his GF.

Visa in passport with "Void" stamped across it, after taking your money.  It happens a lot from Thai Consulates in South Asia, and also visas issued by Phnom Penh.

So after you get a visa from cambodia thai embassy, and go to the border or BKK airport, they will stamp void on it and you have to buy another ticket out?  Why void it

No, the embassy in Phnom Penh takes your money, puts the visa in your visa, and then stamps it void so it is no longer usable. Immigration at Poipet will not void your visa (they cannot do that). They will simply deny you entry anyway, telling you to return to a Bangkok airport, where worse might befall you.

 

In fairness, Phnom Penh is not as free with the voided stamp as South Asia consulates or Penang.

Ok if I fly out to Phnom Penh, stay a few weeks, go to thai embassy and get a thai visa and return to Bangkok, I will be denied entry?  Sorry for the confusion and thanks for your reply.

That depends on how many other TR Visas and/or other Thai-stamp history is in your passport.  If you go with a fresh passport with only one Thai visit in it, you should not have a problem.  Otherwise, I would use another Thai consulate to apply for a TR Visa.

 

But, the OP may be on a list of countries where he can only apply in his passport-country.

Not my experience at all. Regular Thai people in the street don't look at me any differently than let's say 10 years ago. That the officialdom has a less friendly attitude nowadays, on the other hand, cannot be denied.

So basically I learnt today that a new passport won't help and getting an setv doesn't guarantee my entry to thailand as there are reports of people being denied entry.

You are lucky they let you in. From an immigration officer's viewpoint, real tourists don't have Thai girlfriends. It appears you are trying to live with her by entering on consecutive Visa on Arrivals/Visa Exempts. Again, real tourists don't do that. Tourist visas are for tourists, not foreigners trying to live perpetually in Thailand.  The border-run days are gone, and I hate to say, your days in Thailand using tourist visas are numbered.

My relationship with her is about me ensuring she doesn't go back to the place where we met. I hope u understand now. This is a promise I made to myself that she will never go to work in a pimp's shop in pattaya or Bangkok.

I like to stay with her because that ensures she is studying because I am paying my money so she can finish school and go to college. I want to pay for all that. I just don't want her to work in a pimp's business as a sales woman.

I married a Thai girl, her family have never asked for a bean in the 10+ years I've known them, the sin sod is just part of the ceremony and I got back every baht!

One could even add that back to back tourist visas given history will become problematic. Especially at airport. I like many others used to live here using back to back visa exempt. I liked travel so never extended just left evey 30 days for weekend to say Saigon or ...

I loved it. Those days are gone. Even back then, when I obtained a triple entry TV at Saigon Thai consulate, the io stated..."look you living in Thailand. You over 50 why no have retirement visa".

Marry the chick or start your business back home. Or get end visa etc

I don't have plans to get married to her. Only after she finishes schooling in Thailand I have plans to bring her to my country on a student visa to attend college. She is a school dropout and 25 year old now.i am paying my hard earned money so she can have education and she never have to go back work in a "pimp's business as a marketing professional" in pattaya.
