About 4 offices have requested people to return after 3 months with bank passbooks to show they have retained the 800k. A few have said it will be checked when the next application is made in a years time, although that seems to be the consensus of opinion.

It should not really have anything to do with the 90 day address reporting.

They didn't ask for any proof of income on my recent 90-day report in my local office in Phetchabun. but my current one-year extension of stay which is based on the retirement rules was done in Dec 2018 and with a monthly income letter from my embassy (which won't be available when I go for an extension in 2019).

Just did my extension (at Jomtien) this morning and one of the additional pieces of paper they made me sign was a photocopy of the section of the police order detailing how long the money had to be in the bank - article 2.22(4).
At the bottom of the page is a line saying "Please show an update bankbook at Immigration on:" with the date handwritten in and highlighted. I have to go back in 90 days with my (updated) passbook and passport.

At Jomtien they don't synch the 90 Day reports with your Extension so in 2 weeks I will have to come back to do the 90 Report, then 10 weeks later come back to show my passbook, then come back again 2 weeks after that to do the next 90 Day report.

(But I will try to get them all synch'd up for next year though.)

(I think there was 3 different documents I had to sign in addition to the normal ones that I had already done prior to arriving. One of them was the one noted above, another appeared to be an acknowledgement about the police order I think and there was another one that appeared to be some kind of form that she filled in after I signed it. Didn't see the one they had last year where you acknowledged the fines if caught on overstay.
When I go back to get my passport I will ask for copies of those extra documents so I can scan/upload them and include them on my annual "Retirement Extension" post.)

Chiang Mai, 90 day report on Monday 27/5. No mention of a bank book. Although my next extension is November, so new rules don't apply yet.

Do we know if the new proof of funds for retirement extension is checked on every 90 day report, or just when doing the yearly extension?

who cares, ive never seen so many posts over something so simple. just put the required amount of money in a account and forget about it, end of story. if your not in a position  to be able to do that after working 20,30,40 years you shouldn't be here.

I have only report of one office wanting it done with 90 day report.

Unless told otherwise by your local office it will not be checked until you apply for your next extension.
