BANGKOK, 30 May 2019 (NNT) - The Chartthaipattana Party announced that it has yet to accept an invitation from the Palang Pracharath Party to join its political alliance. The Chartthaipattana Party will call a meeting of its executive members on Friday (May 31). The party insisted that it will choose to be an independent opposition if the next coalition government refuses to carry out the party’s policies.

The Palang Pracharath leader, Uttama Savanayana, led a team of party’s executives, including deputy leader Suvit Maesincee, secretary-general Sontirat Sontijirawong, spokesman Kobsak Pootrakool, and core member Suriya Jungrungreangkit, to the head office of the Chartthaipattana Party to formally invite Chartthaipattana to join its political alliance and form a coalition government. The Palang Pracharath members were welcomed by the Chartthaipattana leader, Kanchana Silpa-archa, party’s director Nikorn Chamnong, and core figure Warawut Silpa-archa. The meeting took about one hour.

After the meeting, both parties held a joint press conference. Mr. Uttama told the press conference that his party would like Chartthaipattana to join Palang Pracharath in setting up a coalition government. He said the meeting discussed different policies that would be carried out to address people’s problems.

Ms. Kanchana said her party would like to thank Palang Pracharath for the invitation. However, her party will hold a meeting on Friday before giving an answer to the Palang Pacharath Party. She said the meeting between her party and Palang Pracharath was constructive and both sides did not talk about the allocation of cabinet seats. On whether Chartthaipattana will support Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha as the next prime minister, Ms. Kanchana said her party focuses on solving people’s problems and will not create conditions that will stall the country’s progress.

The Chartthaipattana leader said her party is a small political party and it is likely that her party might oversee just one ministry. Therefore, it has to be a major ministry so the party can carry out its election campaign policies. On the Democrat Party’s stance towards Palang Pracharath, Ms. Kanchana said the issue will not affect her party’s political direction.

Ms. Kanchana said she did not feel slighted by Palang Pracharath’s late invitation. She added that Chartthaipattana can choose to be an independent opposition since the party is fully of its political role.

Demanding big. Not a million votes but it has to have a big ministry. There is no place for humble modesty in Thai politics.
