Rimmer
Dongtan Beach to get speed bump PATTAYA:--Pattaya will fit the road running along Dongtan Beach with speed bumps after complaints about speeders. Deputy Mayor Pattana Boonsawad and city workers toured the so-called Dongtan Free Zone May 30, ordering where speed bumps should be built. The Dongtan road is closed to traffic from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but those waking or exercising on the strip in the evening said cars whiz down the street, causing accidents or scaring pedestrians. -- PATTAYA MAIL 2019-06-01--

Dongtan beach is adjacent to Jomtien Police station. Wouldn't it be cheaper to get Plod out of his office or put a camera on this stretch? 2

Popular Post Tonyt00
So the Deputy Mayor decides where to put speed bumps? Pattaya doesnt have any engineers that are capable of determining where speed bumps should be placed?

fullcave
All the low rider pick-up will have to stop and proceed at 1km should be one hell of a jam up. Maybe they could add a few stop lights? TIT!

bronzedude
The Dongtan Beach "boardwalk/promenade" improvement appears to be best accomplishment of the city planners in recent memory. It looks to have good drainage and the general environment is very attractive. Whoever designed this should be hired to consult the Pattaya Beach people who have no sense of planning. The speed bumps will be an added improvement. Just make sure they're high enough.
Pedrogaz
About time. I often stay at the Avalon. It's a great hotel and there should be no road to cross....but it is filled with speeding vehicles who don't stop for pedestrians. And predictably there is no enforcement. The worst are the motorbikes...and sadly I imagine that the authorities will see that they can continue to speed by leaving little spaces of either side of the bump for them to speed through. Sometimes I despair.

The could never ask the officers to leave the station because they might then be expected to issue parking tickets to the bevy of of monster pickup trucks, and a few cars, that almost completely hide the red striped curbs (i.e. no parking) area next to the Dongtan police station on Dongtan road. Yes, the worst kind of publicity grabbing photo op to exhibit their fine leadership for all to see.. Clearly no need for a senior official to be there for a mundane task like this, let alone trying to instruct the qualified people on what to do. All seem to experts in so many things except how get compliance with simply wearing a helmet while on a scooter/motorcycle. Traffic engineers and safety engineers must find all this posturing rather amusing.
