Transfer funds out of Thailand to U.K.

Featured Replies

Has any body recently transfer funds to the U.K. from Bangkok Bank I rang bangkok bank but was given the run around and got no real answer

I'm going today or tomorrow, the best way to to find out I find is go into the bank, I taking my Thai with me of course.

Yes, it's easy. Just do a SWIFT transfer. In theory, you can do this at any Bangkok Bank branch, but it's best to go to a big branch where the staff are used to dealing with tourists/foreigners, like the branch at Siam Paragon or another mall in Bangkok.

If you have Bangkok Bank internet banking, you can apply to set up an international transfer service - just fill out a form and supply the required documents. I set this up years ago and still use it regularly. It lets you initiate your own transfers from your Bangkok Bank account to the UK whenever you want.

I tried and failed to do this last year - they would not do it without an "invoice" but refused to elaborate any further. I ended up withdrawing as cash, changing at Vasu, and taking it on the plane.

When I rang I was told by then the transfer would be made in USA. Dollars only but I will look into that.

Deemoney seems a popular way, Bank staff can be utterly clueless and unhelpful. My sil works at Bangkok Bank, I can't even always get info out of her!
