Miracle needed as Maldives hotel employee ends up in coma after Phangnga accident

An employee at a well know Maldives hotel back in Thailand visiting relatives is in a coma after a collision on a bend in Phangnga.

Medical staff warned relatives that a miracle was needed - Nisachon, 31, had been submerged in water in a roadside pond for 30 minutes without oxygen.

CRP was given to her after she was dragged from her Toyota Altis on Saturday. She is currently in a coma in Phangnga Hospital.

Police at the scene found a minivan carrying tourists parked 200 meters away by a temple. It had damage to the right side and was driven by 34 year old Kosem.

He told police that he was going round the bend at a sensible speed when the other car lost control at the bend going about 120 kmph and clipped him.

Police believe that Nisachon - from Phuket - failed to negotiate the bend or fell asleep at the wheel.

Van driver travelling at a sensible speed, hes having a laugh, when has any van driver here driven at a sensible speed?

Answer never.

Poor woman, things do not look good for her, if she pulls through she will probably be damaged for life, tragic.

A very sad story, all to common in Thailand.  I am not sure what kind of miracle the medical staff is suggesting but if she was submerged in water for 30 minutes it's hard to see a good outcome even if she were to live.

Who dragged her out?

Did no-one from the minivan (especially the driver) try to help at all.............

Perhaps the passengers in the  van can verify the van driver's claim?

But my most sincere sympathy for the family of the woman in a coma.

30 minutes of oxygen starvation , if indeed that long, and to be resuscitated is a sad sad thing regardless of  "blame" for the accident.

There are times when the  "heroics"  of  resuscitation are misconceived in final outcome.

Kudos to the hospital in advising the need for a miracle. Not to deny that the miraculous  does not happen but a prolonged  vegetative state is  not what  life should be about.
