BANGKOK (NNT) -The security Deputy Prime Minister has held a meeting opening the traffic facilitation and safety joint command center for the ASEAN Summit, which has commenced operations from today and will be working round the clock until 24 June 2019.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has presided over the first meeting of the traffic facilitation and safety subcommittee for the ASEAN Summit and related meetings on 20-23 June 2019, attended by the Royal Thai Police, Office of the National Security Council, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to the meeting, Gen Prawit has thanked all officials involved with the preparation of the joint command center which has commenced its 24/7 operations from today until the end of mission on 24 June. He has asked all units to make their personnel rotation plan ensuring orderliness and continuity of operations.

Participating agencies in the meeting today have reported their preparedness from rehearsals at actual venues from 15 June, as well as operational plans from related agencies such as medical evacuation, patient air transport, and floodwater drainage, which have to be discussed and concluded today.

The Deputy Police Commissioner-General has advised the general public to refrain from travelling through Wireless Road from Ploenchit Intersection to Sarasin Intersection on which the traffic will be closed from 6 am of 22 June 2019 to 6 pm of 23 June 2019 for the 34th ASEAN Summit.

I'm guessing this is nothing to do with legalised cannabis?

I've been to 90% of ASEAN countries, Singapore is an exception, and they're all as unsafe as one another. Next week they'll be an ASEAN committee setup to discuss human rights.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan’s first General Order is to ensure that proper safety signage is displayed along all access to the traffic facilitation and safety joint command center…

Clearly the improvement to 'traffic facilitation and safety' is going to be so spectacular and with such longterm effects that there will be no further requirement for the 'command center' after next Sunday.

As apparent as it looks, seems this guy is never going to go away unless he passes away or gets some restricting sickness or a revolt happens like the Hong Kong uprising. Same for the PM.

He can't be too far away from kicking the bucket. Just look at him, he looks very unhealthy.

Yeah and the bummer would be that Thailand will be forced into wearing black for another 6 months after this Prem Titsulanoda ordeal comes to a halt after they burn him.

The man who is probably the least qualified in the administration, is opening a traffic safety center, something the junta (oh, I forgot, they are legitimate now) and past administrations have shown zero interest in. Public safety is simply not important for them. Protection of the common man and woman is not on their agenda.

It is only through continued embarrassment and shame, with Thailand as one of the top spots in the world when it comes to traffic fatalities per capita, due to indifference, negligence, apathy, and incompetence on the part of the government, and the nearly non existent highway patrol, that they spring into action. Never, ever for the right reasons.
