Prickle Heat or is it.

Featured Replies

Firstly I’m disabled and after a further fall during the Songkran period confined to a reclining chair where I eat, sleep and do everything else.

A bad rash has developed in my groin area which now smells, like fish and totally unpleasant. I have tried Snake Brand powder with no success.

I will add I am not sexually active and have not been for many years, I choose to wear a shirt top and towel around my waist loosely fitted with two fans pointing at me. What did you do if you have been through this.

As of yet I have not seen a doctor or been to a hospital.

It's probably caused by poor hygiene, if your unable to or don't bathe daily, you could possibly have a fungal infection like jock itch or dermatitis.  You need to see a doctor for a diagnosis. You need to bathe daily using a mild soap in the rash area and thoroughly dry the area.  Clinivate-N creme works on rashes and dermatitis. Anti-fungal creams will treat jock itch.

Regardless of the cause the rash, the smell suggests that an infection has set in. In your position I would see a doctor.

Probably started as prickly heat but is now infected.

The infection could be fungal or bacterial.

Seeing a doctor would be wise but I appreciate your mobility issues.

There is a topical cream called Quadriderm that can be bought over the counter which contains both antibacterial and antifungal agents. Could try that but if no improvement will have to get to a doctor.

Thanks for the replies,

One thing I failed to mention in my post, the infection is weeping and very wet. Are you still sure cream would really help.

If it is weepy and wet as well as smelly then almost surely bacterial infection and you may need dressings and oral antibiotics.

I'm afraid a trip to the local hospital (out patient) in unavoidable.
