webfact Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Thai teen falls short as British legend wins Women's World Snooker Championship in Bangkok Reanne and Mink pictured after the British Open Nineteen year old Thai snooker sensation Nutcharut "Mink" Wongharuthai fell agonizingly short in her quest to become the women's world snooker champion in Bangkok on Sunday. Mink was beaten by a true legend of the women's game Reanne Evans of the UK. Reanne was winning her 12th world crown. She won six frames to three in the final at the Hi-End Snooker Club. Earlier Reanne had beaten another Thai Baipat Siripaporn 5-3 in the semi final. Mink defeated Wendy Jans of Belgium 5-2 to earn her shot at the title. Earlier in the year Mink fired in a 147 maximum break in practice at the Hi-End, her home club. It was believed at the time to be the first maximum by a female player. Reanne - who is 33 and from Dudley in the West Midlands - has been just two wins away from reaching the men's world championship final at The Crucible in Sheffield. She scored a high break of 92 on her way to winning in Bangkok. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2019-06-24 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info 1 1
Popular Post Matzzon Posted June 23, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 23, 2019 Runner up to the world champion. Not so bad in my opinion. Better to build her confidence by stating that she did good. 4
Puccini Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Why are there separate championships for men and women? 1
wreckingcountry Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Women’s world Championship held in a thai snooker club in Bangkok ? Would have thought it was more prestigious than that ! Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

Hogs Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 1 hour ago, Puccini said: Why are there separate championships for men and women? EASY ANSWER Because women are not good enough to win if it were mixed. as you can see its says Reanne was 2 frames from qualifying for the Mens World championship which means Women can enter but clearly not good enough to make it into the finals. a womens only Snooker World championship is the only way Women will even hold a Snooker World Championship. If I was a reasonable Snooker player I just might assume to be a female so I too can be a World Champion seems to be the way to go these days men competing as women. 2 1
TEFLKrabi Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 When Alison Fisher was younger she could have easily qualified for the men’s championship, if she’d been allowed. 1

You'd have to be quite good - as the OP says Mink got a maximum in practice earlier in the year. She may well be world champion in the next year or two. Rooster 1
Popular Post freebyrd Posted June 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 24, 2019 As a comedian once said, 'legend' has gone from extracting a sword from a stone to returning from the shops with a bag of crisps ????. 1 2

berybert Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Funny how so many people question why women don't play in the men's events, yet never question why men are not allowed in the women's events. If men where allowed in the women's world championship there would never have been a woman champion. 1

In other news, I've been watching the ladies football, it's like watching my local under 11's play. I don't mind them playing anything as long as they realise they just aren't up to competing with men. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3609949/Matildas-lose-7-0-Newcastle-Jets-15s-Rio-Olympics-warm-up.html 1
