The week that was in Thailand news: Thai Soap Opera News breaks records at Thaivisa!

'Nicotine, the addictive ingredient in cigarettes, can be quite a lethal compound. It's widely recognized to be deadly at doses between 30 and 60 milligrams, making it more dangerous than both arsenic and cyanide.'

Where are all the drug war warriors today?

Wait, the media and the laughable drug laws didn't brainwash them about old Nick, the most addictive substance known to man, so that's ok by them. Just don't mention meth!

I’m fairly new to Thai Visa, and very much enjoying your weekly TW2.  Look forward to it every week.  Thanks.

No more complaints about your Americanisations. I've learnt my lesson, especially since such complaints give you pleasure.

I too am an ex-smoker. My introduction to the filthy drug was inevitable given that my parents and all other relatives living in close proximity when I was growing up partook the deadly weeds - Woodbines, Kensington and Players Please being the worst offenders from memory. In fact, from the age of about eight, my mother used to get me to light up for her. It was only when my younger son developed whooping cough (despite having been vaccinated) that my then wife and I saw the light and quit (one Americanisation back at you 555). That first attempt lasted eight years, since when I've stopped and re-started at least a dozen times. The final quit followed a diagnosis for copd (what used to be called emphasymia), but to curb the cravings I switched to vapes several years back. Now, I know that much of the damage has already been done, but by following a healthy lifestyle, which includes a daily 20 mile cycle ride, I seem to have at least halted the decline. Should the ban on vaping be rigidly enforced, I would probably be back on the fags again shortly after. There must be thousands of others in the same predicament, so there rests the case in our defence.

As always, an enjoyable read.

Mr. Rooster, an excellent column.

Really spot on. As was Mr. White in his comment.

Noticeable changes here.

I grew up around smokers my dad was a heavy smoker no telling how much 2nd hand smoke I inhaled serving in the military I was also around smokers but I never wanted to smoke even being married to a smoker for 37 years I still haven't wanted to smoke so blaming being around smokers for your smoking habits is just a cop out

Difficult to come up with a name for the present occupant of the WH without being derogatory.  I voted against him and shall do so next time, provided I am still around, as I cast my first vote at age 24 for Dwight Eisenhower.  If he has the temerity ("balls" in the USA) to try to continue on his path of destruction for my beloved county (no matter where I choose to live, that being one of the greatest values of being a citizen) many sound headed, thinking folks will also renounce him.

Your column is a must for me every week - please keep up the good work

Some posters moaned about "brevity" last week in my 3,000 word The Week That Was. I admit to getting a little carried away about cheating and my Scrabble hobby-horse but this column is not meant to be short.

Quite acceptable to bring a little verbosity and a few linguistic flourishes when presenting a leisurely and tongue in cheek round up of the week's events - this is a long established English tradition.

It's worth mentioning that even the bard was using the phrase "Brevity is the soul of wit" ironically. This appeared in the midst of a rambling monologue by Polonious, a character who was renowned for not getting to the point.

5555 ! - you're lucky mate!

I copped a month in solitary confinement for telling the truth about sharia law - a totally legal comment in my own country but "breached community standards".  It started out as only seven days but when I reminded them of it being totally legal and reminded them that they ignored muslim hate speech they go upset!

I once got 7 days for "breaching community standards"  when I posted a WEATHER MAP <deleted> !

Your piece on Colin was an excellent insight to the great man himself, always good to get the truth out in the open !!

As for “ brevity “, for me your weekly sermon is not long enough and as the gf always says “ the longer the better !! “ ( in yer end oh intended ).

Rooster, becoming a lady will not help your snooker play. But we support your right to try.

Maybe not. But I think I'd have a great time in the shower.

Fantastic.

These figures confirm all the great work done by Barrack to turn the disastrous Republican years around were not in vain.

Flustered DPM Prawit didn't appear to know the time of day, a remarkable achievement for a man with such access to chronometers.

Just brilliant.  Great read overall,  but that was very enjoyable.

You're welcome.

Punning on Prawit is not difficult.

Watch this space.
