Most respondents to a surveyed conducted this past week said they were “extremely fed up” with Thai politics in the wake of a series of negative news reports about politicians and parties.

More than 92 per cent of the 1,673 respondents to the Super Poll opinion survey, the results of which were released on Sunday, said they’d grown “very tired” of the situation.

By comparison, 7.6 per cent said they considered the latest political jousting “fun” and not “boring”.

More than 67 per cent of respondents said they were “very worried” or “very much worried” that post-election political bickering between rival camps will worsen.

The chief concern stemmed from accusations that MPs in both the coalition government and the opposition retained shares in media companies, which is against the law.

Just over 23 per cent described themselves as “moderately concerned” about this issue, while 9.3 per cent were “slightly worried” or “not worried at all”.

More than 87 per cent of respondents agreed that government and opposition MPs as well as senators should be subjected to examinations to determine whether they are qualified for office and do not hold shares in media businesses.

Asked whether Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha should be named leader of the main coalition partner, the Phalang Pracharath Party, 59.5 per cent said no and 40.5 per cent said yes.

The survey, conducted between June 20 and 29, covered residents in all regions of the country.

These polls are always so meaningless and unbelievable.

As if 40% of the Thai people believe that Prayut should be head of the Phalang Pracharat Party - i.e. effectively head of the 'Government'!

If they do - then Thailand is in more serious trouble than even I thought!

And 100% are fed up with surveys.

All percentages must be given to at least the first decimal point.

Yes they have too and they have to show what the person who paid for the survey wants.

The results are not surprising from this institute, formerly known as Thai researchers association  for community happiness, which used to be headed by a general and to publish polls with 98.4% rate of satisfaction for Prayut.

Personally I am frustrated that people vote again and again for the same old corrupt politicians or their family members and then somehow they expect an honest government.

If Thais want a good government why do they vote for corrupt politicians? Strange!

They will get it right if allowed to vote. It’s when you have corrupt military that seized power and behaving worst than corrupt elected politicians, it narrow down their choice.

What gives you the idea that they get it right? In the last 20 years (that the time I observed it myself in Thailand) the majority of Thais voted again and again for the same corrupt politicians even when the had better, less corrupt, choices. Einstein called it insanity.

then it is ironic that the coup brought out more political parties then ever. I would say there are more political parties now then before the coup. Not justifying the coup just wondering why you think there are less choices. I would say there were less before and more now.

And what gives you the idea they can’t get it right. The people did not stand a chance with 18 coups or 1 every 6 years since Thailand allowed multi parties election. Thais didnt vote for the corrupt military to intervene yet they governed for most part of the 20 years and badly too, that’s the insanity that you subscribed.

Thaksin and his cronies governed the biggest part of the last 20 years. There is no doubt he and his minions were democratically elected. And there is no double that he and his cronies were all very corrupt. In that time the military stepped in two times because checks and balanced did not work anymore (at least that was one reason). Thai voters could have elected honest or at least less corrupt politicians for the last decades. They didn't. And even in the recent election the criminal fugitive Thaksin and his minions received lot of votes. Is that smart? I don't think so.

If you can’t even get the number of years Thaksin and his affiliates parties were in government, it is a waste of time talking to a novice.

Does your bias prevent you from performing a simple calculation? Approximately 16,000,000 people voted for PPRP, Dem and BJT, around 45% of the total.

Oh right, you reject that, in the name of democracy.

Oh come on! A genuine Thaksin apologist can do better than quibbling over a small numerical error.

It doesn't matter who's in Charge they will ALL end up corrupt and Civil Servants are the most corrupt so until they fix that bit forget about any honest politician. Haha the Booogeyman again.

Are you kidding? Do you think that the alternative options, which by the way are now in power, are less corrupt? Was Thailand less corrupt before Thaksin? Was Thailand less corrupt during the Junta's government?

Until presented with evidence to the contrary. Given that the win was hardly what they hoped for, are you assuming incompetence as well as corruption to fit your little conspiracy theory?

Are you assuming the survey was rigged too?
