Filthy vans with fungus growing - and rude driver as well!

Sanook reported that a Twitter user had tweeted that the Bangkok to Saraburi minivan route was disgusting.

There was fungus growing all over the ceiling of the van and the driver was rude. They had contacted the Department of Land Transport.

They said the driver stopped for gas and forbid the passengers to open the door to get some air in the stifling heat.

When they did he swore at them and slammed the door in their face, the tweet claimed.

Sanook went to the minivan rank at Future Park, Rangsit to investigate.

A worker called Issara told them there was some fungus but it wasn't too bad.

A 90% clean had been done. Problem was with the dripping air-con units.

He told reporters that you had to understand that this was the rainy season.

Except there hasn't been enough rain to bother mentioning. What he really means is that he is a lazy git, who can't be bothered to keep his van in any sort of respectable order, and that there is something stuck in his backside that is causing significant irritation.

I think I'll have nightmares thinking of the state of the insides of that AC ????

Preserve wild life.

Don't clean the air-con.

Surely not meth users...just a little untidy ?

Nothing is worse than sitting in one of these hot, cramped death vans, especially for hours at a fixed 90 angle.  Definitely not recommended for those with claustrophobia.  Sitting at the back corners, far from the window-breaking tool where you can barely see anything other than other passengers and luggage, can feel like being trapped.

Had some bad experiences going to Khao Yai and parts of Rayong.  Constant tailgating, pointless passing, and annoying pumping of brakes.  Passengers arguing with totally unapologetic drivers, some even demanding to get off.  Told the service desks at my destination and they took note, not sure if any action taken though.

There are some safe, courteous van drivers out there, but I found the proportion of <deleted> van drivers overall to be higher than that of taxis, tour buses, etc.  For that reason, I avoid taking shared public vans altogether now.  Felt like only a matter of time before those <deleted> drivers would get into a fatal accident.
