Affordable hip replacement in Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi, so my father is living in Chumphon and recently got very sick from osteoarthritis. He needs an artificial hip bone, and apparently none of the nearby hospitals are equipped to do this. Our only other option is Bangkok, but since it would be an expensive and tiring venture, seeing as he has no place to live there (and he is basically broke). I want to ask if there are any other hospitals in the South or generally in Thailand that would do the job for less money than Chulalongkorn, Siriraj and Thammasat hospital in Bangkok. He has no insurance and we can't afford medivac.

@faraday did you get a two sided replacement? What kind of material? Any kind of insurance involved?

Only had one hip replacement - having both done at the same time would, in my opinion, be a difficult recovery.

It was an uncemented hip. I didn't use insurance.
