The BBC has apologised and amended a Panorama documentary presented by Stacey Dooley after she inadvertently described a Muslim prayer sign as a terrorist salute.

Stacey Meets the IS Brides, which is due to be shown on BBC One on Monday night, features the presenter travelling to camps in Syria to meet women who left their own countries to join Islamic State.

In one scene, trailed on Sunday night’s News at Ten, Dooley described leaving a camp and watching “women raising their index finger in an IS salute” – without making it clear that the gesture also had another meaning.

Isis fighters have often deployed the single-finger gesture in propaganda images but Tell MAMA, an organisation which measures anti-Muslim attacks, pointed out that the symbol had a much wider use representing Muslims’ commitment to monotheism.

This reminds me of the Panodrama story (google that for the movie).

The BBC has become the enemy of the Britts.

total b  s.

Raising the index finger is not about Islam.

Not stated in Quran.

It is just something Muslim claim like Prophet Mohammed was doing this.

This is a Wahhabi thing, coming from bigot Saudi Arabia. Wahhabi like to distort the religion according to their needs.

The BBC has always been renowned for it's integrity and partiality in presenting news and political views.

In the past couple of years things have changed dramatically in that a disproportionate amount of time has been allocated to right wing views, particularly to people like Farage and his cronies.

It's a sad day when the national broadcaster appears to have been taken over by extremism.

Just about every main stream broadcaster in the west has. What happened is in the 90's women started going to universities to study journalism. These classes were often very left leaning (I know, I was a researcher for a year at one very red university and had dealing with them) and they graduated full fledged leftist/feminist/alphabet. Then, they went to work at news agencies and got a hold of them. Now it's all extremely biased.

BBC right wing???????????????????????????????????

ThaiVisa often has contributions that make one raise one's eyebrows, but this surely is the most astonishing distortion of reality that has ever seen the light of day even in this hallowed debating hall......

Amazing how everyone seems to be lamping on to some fanciful notion that the BBC is somehow complicit in the Islamization of the west where the reality of this particular story is once again, Stacey Dooley's serial incompetence and her sad and misguided clamor to be seen as some sort of leading light as a respected foreign correspondent. Nothing much has changed since her ill-conceived and short-lived exposes of child sex slaves in Thailand and Cambodia or her more recent personal capitalization on African orphans.

So she won Strictly... should have stayed there IMHO.

And now they allow female commentators on the Ashes. They've got their Women's World Cup and golf, tennis and loads of other sports where women can blag about other women but why do we need to have a the throw down female blagger on cricket, F1 and NFL and other sports where women do not compete?

Despite England getting a hiding at Edgbaston, why did I need to hear a woman opining vapidly about the English chaps probably being tired after the recent World Cup success? If it was coming from a man, we could ask, "Are you being serious?" without fear of being called sexist.

And I saw one man on the pitch giving the 'Islamic Salute' to quite a few of the batsmen.
