March 18, 200719 yr I left Chang Mai yesterday and didnt have any short term effects from the haze, perhaps because I was inside from 9-5 with work and most evenings, however being the paranoid git that I am, Im very anxious about the long term effects. Is there any medical tests you can have to see if you have been affected? Is the situation so bad that we should be thinking about lung cancer etc. From my observations it seemed that 90% of tourist were not wearing any masks... so wonder if Im being too overly concerned. thanks for your help

Yes,there is a haze in the air,but I can still see the hillside which is about 7 klm away....No smell of smoke...no sore throat....so whats all the fuss about. I can except, when people claim only 5o yds visibilty that that isnt nice, but if there are unpleasant gases about, a cotton mask will do sod all.

Otherwise, have a look at these academic papers. Should help your nightmares.
