Pol Col Thatchapong Sarawanangkoon praised the eagle eyed officials who carried out crosschecks on Mr Xie Mofeng. He was found to be a blacklisted individual who had changed his name and got a new passport before slipping back into Thailand. Naew Na - a mouthpiece for immigration in recent months - said that the arrest was under the command of Region 1 chief of immigration Pol Maj-Gen Padiphat Suban Na Ayuthaya acting on orders from immigration chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang to keep Thailand safe. Thailand's much vaunted "biometrics" system was not mentioned on this occasion, notes Thaivisa.
