Israel bars U.S. Democratic lawmakers under pressure from Trump

Please explain the significance of 1940?    Did you mean 1948?    If you did, at least that makes some sense but of course, 5 Arab armies attacked Israel in 1948, so they obviously weren't too happy at that partition.    You should really brush-up on your history before spouting on about things you know so little about!

What is so difficult to understand about 1940?

Just google for a map of Israel in 1940 and see what you find.

It seems you should really brush-up on your history before spouting on about things you know so little about!

Great decision. These 2 women need to learn there are consequences for their actions. Their hate-mongering has gone way too far.

  • I think we can all spot who’s the disgrace, trump.    He’s the one pandering to white nationalist hate in order to stay in office...

That's great news! Israel does not even pretend anymore to care and act like a civilized country. Hopefully this decision will wake up some people who until now think that Israel should neve

And after 18 pages of petty arguments that is the simplicity of it.

If one is into ignorantly or misleadingly over-simplifying things, sure.

Do you think that it's only Israel who have paid lobbyists?   Just Google 'Pro-Palestinian US lobbyists' and see that they make every effort to influence US lawmakers as well!!

You reinforce Omar's point "It's all about the Benjamins". American politicians are for sale to the highest bidder.

The US system needs reforming so that politicians vote on social justice issues with their principles not their pockets.

And you're deflecting.

While repeating Omar's trope.

How many other countries are allowed to keep land they conquered?  allowed to 'expand' into another country's territory?  it's a hypocritical disgrace.

Four quick examples - China. Turkey. Morocco. Russia.

The topic, though, is about the visit of the two USA congresswomen being cancelled.

Ya and the USA really supports that!  BTW I'd challenge you on Russia and China but,as you say, off topic. Back to the hypocrites barring, then changing, about the congresswoman who, BTW, I support as I totally support BDS.

Imaginary challenges aside, your bogus point was addressed. And it wasn't even directly related to the topic.

As for the "back to the topic" part, you seem to have misunderstood things - the visit was originally approved, then cancelled following Trump's intervention. In the second act, Tlaib's application for a visit on humanitarian grounds was approved (with constraints), which she almost immediately rejected (after initially accepting the constraints).

You may support whatever you like, it doesn't make your commentary any more accurate, though.

I think it's quite appropriate that you cite that rogues' gallery in relation to Israel. Some of us might think that says something significant about Israel. Others, like you, not so much.

principles?? seems few and far between in the system now

I mention China and Israel and you reacted surprise, what's the surprise? China took the majority of the land in SC sea, Russia = Crimea, Turkey = Chipre/Cyprus, these are facts and shouldn't be a surprise

You can "lol" all you like. It's clearly stated in her application.

Well I was wrong.

Tlaib won't accept the restrictions and won't take the trip to visit her Grandma.

I don't blame her for that but that's a shame and this entire mess was completely avoidable if only "trump" had kept his piehole shut.

Prove to me that Trump is in charge of Israel.

Tlaib is a shameful woman who never should have been sent to the House of Representatives.  Someone will primary her out in less than a year.  Good riddance.  She can go live in socialist nightmare like Venezuela is she likes.

She's not a real American.

could you please clarify what's a REAL American, thks

Prove to me that Trump is in charge of Israel.
They originally said yes but then 45 said they shouldn't. Pay attention.

no problem, always welcome, here to serve

I can't for the life of me understand why Israel would side with Donald Trump, seeing as that the democratic party in America has been so pro-Israel of late. Very unfashionable to support Jews nowadays. Much more fashionable to sacrifice an entire national identity and economy to support a culture and religion that is explicitly hostile to every western value imaginable.

She would probably say the same about you and I know who I would agree with.

Not to mention that the Somalian "refugee" crisis in America was dumped disproportionately on the state of Minnesota and it should be no surprise that this person was gerrymandered into Congress. She's an affirmative action joke.

Why ask such a ridiculous question?

In any case, "trump" is much more popular in Israel than in the U.S..

Honarary member.

Score one for Palestine.

The Israelis just kicked in another own goal.

With friends like their goofy supporters in the US they don't need enemies.

Again Trump has done more to harm Israel by his bull in a china shop diplomacy.
And Netanyahu , whatever points he scored with Trump, has handed a megaphone to the BDS movement. The genie is out of the bottle: any criticism of Israel, once taboo and political suicide, is now open debate.

Bernie Sanders summed up the furore perfectly:

“But the idea that a member of the United States Congress cannot visit a nation which, by the way, we support to the tune of billions and billions of dollars, is clearly an outrage and if Israel doesn’t want members of the United States Congress to visit their country to get a first-hand look at what’s going on, and I’ve been there many many times, but if [Mr. Netanyahu] doesn’t want numbers to visit, maybe he can respectfully decline the billions of dollars that we give to Israel,” https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/aug/16/bernie-sanders-israel-can-decline-the-billions-in-/

And the last word from Omar:

“As many of my colleagues have stated in the last 24 hours, we give Israel more than $3 billion in aid every year. This is predicated on their being an important ally in the region, and the ‘only democracy’ in the Middle East.
Denying visits to duly elected Members of Congress is not consistent with being either an ally or a democracy."
