EU says ready for no-deal Brexit, 'British would be the biggest losers'

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Commission said on Monday that the EU was ready for a no-deal Brexit and that Britain would suffer most under such a scenario.

 

Speaking at a regular daily briefing, Commission spokeswoman Natasha Bertaud said a no-deal UK exit would never be the EU’s preferred scenario, adding that the Brussels-based executive saw no need for additional contingency preparations at this stage.

 

“This will obviously cause significant disruption both for citizens and for businesses and this will have a serious negative economic impact,” Bertaud said of any abrupt split.

 

“That would be proportionally much greater in the United Kingdom than it would be in the EU 27 states.”

 

She cited Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker as having said that if it came to a no-deal Brexit “it is the British who will unfortunately be the biggest losers”.

 

In London on Monday, the opposition Labour Party demanded that the U.K. parliament be recalled from its summer break to discuss steps to mitigate Brexit disruptions after leaked government documents forecast possible food, fuel and medicine shortages should Britain crash out from the bloc.

Will “become democratic again” include to give the UK’s member states a veto right (such as the EU does), letting them leave the UK when they want (such as the EU does), and maybe even having a democratically elected head of state (rather than an unelected one)?

Exactly. Which is why state organised Russian trolls targetted the Brexit referendum and why Trump has consistently insisted that UK goes down the hard Brexit route.

 

Both entities fear the EU as the most powerful trading block and are making every effort to ensure that UK is hived off from thr EU. Divide and conquer. They're doing a good job on you. Did you get a Facebook message saying that there will be a European army, or that the ERM will be forced on us, the Euro will replace the £? Project fear doesn't reside with British remainers, it's home is in Russia and the US, shame on you for being their patsy.

The EU needs to grow up and come back to the table. The surrender treaty agreed with Remainer May is completely one sided, has been rejected 3 times and is dead as a dodo.

Whilst MP's are expected to use their own judgement, voting against manifesto promises is not what voters expect. The manifests of both Labour and Conservative parties included a commitment to 'Respect' the 2016 referendum result, to leave the EU. Overwhelmingly most MP's voted to trigger 'Article 50' to enable that to happen. Too many Remain voting MP's have voted and continue to want to vote to force the UK to stay in the EU, which was contrary to their manifesto promise to respect the referendum result and ensure we leave the EU.    Some democracy eh?

There's no doubt that the subliminal messages that inundated Facebook, Twitter et. al. put out in their many millions by AIQ, Cambridge Analitica and the St. Petersberg troll farm, swang the referendum in favour of the Brexit vote. Just as the same actors did in the US election, in favour of Trump.

 

I'm not saying that you personally wouldn't have voted leave anyway but one of the phenomena of this type of "brainwashing" is that the victim is completely unaware of it. Undoubtedly had a major influence in the Brexit referendum and the US elections.

 

Interestingly, the chief achitect of this kind of vote manipulation, during the Brexit campaign, was Dominic Cummings who brought AIQ on board for the official leave campaign, was recently appointed as Boris's presonal guru.

Although I've never seen an election manifesto yet that was fully implemented. Going back on manifesto promises is, and always has been, the norm.

There's a fair bit of truth in this although it is also true that a sizeable %age of the 'ficker than us' club don't use FB or Twitter etc or at least didn't at the time.
