Seven wounded - including children - in blasts and other violence in far south

Bombs in Yala in Thailand's troubled south injured seven people including three children at an ATM.

 

In total there were incidents at seven locations across four districts of Yala. 

 

A bomb at a Krung Thai ATM in Tharato district injured a man and a woman and three girls. 

 

On Route 4065 a power pole came down in a blast injuring two. 

 

A bomb exploded at a convenience store though there were no injuries. 

 

In other districts fires using tires damaged telegraph poles. 

 

Pictures of damaged poles were shown on the Thai Rath news site.

 

There was no indication as yet as to who was responsible for the latest actions.

Nine injured in six bomb, arson attacks in Yala

Insurgents set off homemade bombs and carried out arson attacks at six locations in five districts of Yala on Tuesday night, injuring nine local people, police said.

 

Police said the bomb and arson attacks were apparently coordinated to happen shortly before 8pm in Yaha, Muang, Krong Pinang, Than To and Bannang Sata districts. The first explosions happened at around 7.45pm.

 

Police said insurgents detonated two bombs in Ban Bukeh village in Tambon Ngoi Si Nae in Yaha. The blast broke two power poles, causing three other power poles to fall down in a chain reaction and causing outage in a wide area in the tambon.

 

Police said three villagers, who happened to ride a motorcycle past the spot, were injured and they were rushed to the district hospital before being forwarded to Yala Hospital. They were identified as Nuriyah Yalo, 34, Sainungwati Ngaeyalee, 27, and Muslem Ngaeyalee, 2.

 

At nearly the same time, a bomb exploded and felled a power pole on the Yala-Betong road in Ban Para Meetae village in Tambon Budee of Muang district.

 

Meanwhile in Bannang Sata, militants set fire to a AIS base station for its cellular home services in Moo 3 village in Tambon Bacho. They also burned rubber tyres on the road.

 

In Krong Penang district, militants burned several tyres at the intersection in front of the Krong Penang district office on the Yala-Betong road in Moo 7 village in Tambon Krong Pinang.

 

Police said two explosions occurred in Than To district. A bomb was detonated to damage an ATM machine at the Khok Chang Market in Moo 7 village in Tambon Mae Wad and another bomb exploded at the entrance to the road to the Khok Chang Waterfall.

 

Police said six villagers were injured in these two explosions. They were identified as Lamphun Laokaew, 30, Thaweesak Sitthichokwiwat, 47, Pornnapha Polchana, 15, Sriwilai Thongsripray, 37, Phanpisut Srichan, 7, and Chanakarn Srichan, 11.

 

The six were hit with bomb shrapnel and were rushed to Than To Hospital.

Trifle (albeit children injured, not blown up).

Im always amazed they haven't got more sophisticated and targeted the tourist areas that would go down well for tourism
