Does anyone know the school schedule for govt schools here (primary). I understand there is a long vacation coming up for some reason?

Each school will set their own schedule, so there will be some variation from school to school.

 

Generally, the school year will begin in May.  The end of the first term will be in late September or early October.  The second term will begin around the end of October and go on to early March.  High school seniors, M6, will usually end a few weeks earlier.

 

The October break is usually around 4 weeks long.

I learned by observation. No nationwide not even local rules for all schools.

The sister in laws grandchildren are on holiday (private school) about third week of March while the village school is open for another two weeks.

Don't call it chaos but it's difficult to plan holidays with children of different schools/ages.
