I'm looking to have a few dental implants done in Bangkok, I've lived here a few years and can't seem to find any up to date recommendations. Prices all seem pretty crazy, THB 100,000 + per tooth, is that the norm? Any advice or info greatly appreciated. Daniel

If you are having multiple implants you might do well to consider India, even with travel costs will save money.

Implants are not cheap here. The prosthetic tooth is an expensive import.

Least expensive option in Thailand is probably Mahidol Dental clinic, 2 branches one near Victory Monument and one out in Salaya (other side of the river near Buddhamonthorn)

Being a public facility, waits will be long and best to have a Thai speaker along at least the first time.  Working hours Mon - Fri excluding government holidays. They likely have an "after hours" clinic in evenings and Sat mornings  that costs a few hundred baht more per visit, the implant price itself probably the same.

I will be starting a implant procedure at the Mahidol University hospital (near Victory Monument) ina  few weeks. A couple of months ago I had a molar removed and will get that space done. I'm not exactly sure on the price as it depents on if a bone graft is needed as well. I understand it to me in the range of 70-80K, depending on the material used. It will involve a coupe of visits. The long queue isn't really a problem as the implant precedure needs several months between visits. My dentist seems very good and knowledgeable and took out my broken and infected tooth easily and with little pain to speak of. The special clinic is on the second floor and most of the work is done by university staff. I don't recommend it for crown work as the appointments are too far apart due to the queue. I had to get crown work completed at sa local dentist because of this.

Definitely a Thai speaker will help with getting a medical card and the paper procedure. All the dentists speak english very well there.

That's expensive. It's less than that at Thantakit Dental Center. I have used Thantakit many times before. The place is reputable in the dental implant industry and dental tourism so they cater to expats.

Do you have actual prices?

When you quote a price list the exact implant manufacturer and model as this is so important and all are not the same quality AT ALL

For example model below great choice and is much more technology advanced than most with top guarantee and less invasiveness thus requiring less bone and less or possibly no bone grafting if recipient has loss bone .

So when you just compare prices without brand and model like so many do here it’s really not that helpful if one wants to really have best implant and the most optimal price and be able to truly compare the deal .

(

For example - Straumann[emoji768] tapered Bone Level Implant Roxolid[emoji768]w/ SLActive[emoji768]

SLA active coating add reduced invasiveness and maximized predictability for most optimal and quickest osseointegration and treatment success .

quite right, and I agree with you. lumbini
It's always what concerns me first:
compare what is comparable.
And I compared, even if I'm not an expert, it gives an idea. the price of gold is different from that of steel.

Thank you to recall and that each request a full quote with Composits.

Big difference in brands a models , there are really only about 4+ top companies making state of the art dental implants and they have been making them and evolving their models for decades . On the other hand there are now not hundreds but thousands of companies making “ similar and knock off products ( some that are ok and some that are laughable ) all over China and other countries-that have very high failure rates and breakage history so to just compare an implant price from two different clinics without the specific makes and model details is almost pointless . How much priority do you put on what will be a vital body part for something as important as chewing and implanted in you head basically as people just look at price and not much else [emoji15]

@bluewavesam-Right. I agree with @sirocco, Thantakit prices are just about right. Obviously cheaper than the west. I have personally used Thantakit Int'l Dental Center in Bangkok and never had an issue with my treatments and communication-wise.

"My local dentist is about 40k, you have to avoid the big places and ones in expensive shopping malls."

When it comes to implants, I think that is really bad advice.

First, implants require expertise, the sort of expertise that comes from doing not just the occasional implant but doing them day after day.

Second, having the right equipment counts, like a 3D x-ray machine and a dedicated surgically-clean operating room.

A large specialised clinic like Thantakit meets these requirements. Your local dentist with a sign in the window advertising implants, won't.

The cost of the prosthetic itself is the bulk of the total price and costs the dentist pretty much the same wherever you go.

The only differences you can get in price that are not due to a difference in the prosthetic tooth model used, will be the labor charge of the dentist and even coming  most & least expensive the overall margin of difference in total price  is going to be quite small.

So when you see large differences you can be reasonably sure the cheaper places are implanting an inferior prosthetic. Which will make a difference in the long run.

Wow those prices seem high. I had a molar implant done at Dental 4U, near Tapae Gate in Chiang Mai almost 2.5 years ago.  45,000 for the implant, including bone graft. I do not recall the brand but the dentist had experience with it and recommended it. 3D xray.  15,000 for the crown. It was ceramic , can't recall what kind but more expensive than the "base model". The dentist trained in the U.S., apparently.  It only took him around 45 minutes to place the implant. And I thought that was expensive (esp compared to other dental work here).
