Govt seeks more funds from Beijing for three projects including Bangkok-Kunming Highway

Deputy Prime Minister Jurin Laksanawisit led other Asean ministers in discussions with China on upgrading their trade partnership, aiming to obtain an additional 130 million yuan (Bt557.7 million) for three projects including a highway linking the Thai capital to Kunming in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan.

People urged to destroy mosquito breeding grounds as dengue claims 89 lives this year

Dengue fever has so far this year claimed 89 lives and affected 81,500 people in Thailand, the Department of Disease Control (DDC) said on Monday (September 9) as it called on members of the public to help destroy mosquito breeding grounds and also dispatched officials to fumigate several areas.

Higher tax on sugary drinks aims to control consumption

The Excise Department has announced that taxes on sugary drinks will double from October 1, with beverages containing 10 to 14 grams of sugar being taxed at Bt1 per 100 millilitres instead of Bt0.5 per 100ml, adding that this tax will not be passed on to consumers despite the higher cost of production.

Not enough being done to fight graft, says UNDP as it calls on Thai lawmakers to participate

Renaud Meyer, resident chief of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is calling on all Thai lawmakers to help fight corruption. Praising Thailand’s efforts so far, he noted that some issues need to be addressed since certain influential figures and groups with vested interests still pose obstacles when it comes to building a less-corrupt society.

Chonburi Hospital adopts CBH PLUS app to make things easier for patients

PTT backs startup for electric bikes driven by clean energy

Etran (Thailand), a startup in innovative electric motorcycles, has unveiled its latest product driven by clean energy as the Department of Land Transportation announced that motorcycles in Thailand produce 50,000 tonnes of CO2 emission per day, or over 18 million tonnes a year.
